A sportswashing campaign never works though. It always puts a spotlight on the things they're trying to hide. Creates more attention than if they didn't bother.

What was that Chopra one again? I remember a dubious Photoshop but little else to go with it. Was Chopra claiming it real or somebody using Chopras image?

You state that you abhor the actions of the regime of your majority owners, but do not think it should affect how you feel about the club, yet you have no problem linking the failures of the club to the Ashley regime.
The club is now inextricably linked to that regime. Everything that’s happening to the club is because of that regime, every player you sign is there because of the finances of that regime, You cannot separate the Saudi regime from any aspect of the club. Everything is tainted. The act of sportswashing is being performed through numerous channels for the benefit of Saudi Arabia, not the club. The Saudi’s couldn’t give a toss about the clubs supporters, - why would they when they care so little for their own people? That those supporters are happy to swallow the sportswashing is a bonus.
Absolutely agree with this, lived here all my life and the way the same group of people have changed over the last year is sickening.
I almost feel like they think they are personally elevated from the rest of football.
The self entitlement “we deserve this” entitlement is remarkable.

Talking about it now has jogged memories a bit. He was quite vocal on Twitter in his anti Ashley stance as well i think. Which is fair enough. That opinion. But to give it the whole fake photo shop stuff.
He's a homeless man. I don't mean literally. Just that post football he's not got a club that loves him like some players. If he'd scored against us instead of putting it out for a throw in, you lot would've liked him we'd have hated him and he'd have a post-football home.

Could've been a legend for Sunderland had he scored and celebrated wildly.
However
I have it on good authority that he had no intention of celebrating if he'd scored against Newcastle. I can't say specifically how i know. But that is genuine.
Sportswashing isn't about trying to hide who they are. It provides an alternative narrative.
Ah aye, i understand what it is and why the Saudis bought Newcastle. But it hasn't worked has it? Quite the opposite. Far more negative coverage than positive for them

Dont doubt it. Thats probably why his "miss" looked horrible. All these things probably shot through his head as he was about to shoot
I should add that i was told this before the 2008 2-0 Michael owen game. A year or so before the "miss". Not gloating but don't think he even had a chance to score in that one.
Like i say i can't be specific in where the information came from exactly but it was definitely before the 2008 one.
I don't watch Sky much but almost all the coverage I've seen has been positive.
