He was always going there. I don’t think any link with us was ever realistic. Just we get linked with everyone
To be fair, it would have been the perfect type of signing for you lot to target. Out of contract at Brentford and could have tempted him with a bumper salary and/or agent fee.

He’s an absolute quality midfielder and would have really given you lot a realistic chance of top 6 imo.

Well if the people who did that now say they had no choice they should certainly be called out on it

Except the answer I’ve given
The question was what would they have to do for you to walk away?

You didn't answer, so I'll ask you.

What would the Saudis have to do for you to walk away?

Wtf ?
They are the face of your club now ! They gave you it back ????? What more would they have to do for you to say enough as the owners of my club ?
Again, we seem to be talking at cross purposes. You keep asking what more would “they” have to do? By “they” do you mean the Saudi state?

Nah not top 6. We’re several seasons away from that. Not denying his quality though. He’s class and of course I would have loved him to sign.

Really? Tens of thousands? And yes, some were wearing tea towels and dressed as sheikhs or had flags. They would be my category c people. Those people are either ignorant or pricks or both most likely.
When Yasir Whatshisname attended his first game, it looked like the whole stadium stood to applaud him, some were even photographed bowing before him, plenty of others waving Saudi flags. That looked like several tens of thousands to me, who were happy to welcome their new overlord. I can’t remember the cameras picking up anyone sitting silently or people objecting to the Saudis.

Pope, Botman, Guimaeres & Eriksen (if you got him) gives you a really good base to build on. A couple more quality signings of that ilk and top 6 would have been a reasonable target.

You were only 9 points off 6th the season just gone.

Maybe 6th is a fair bit away, but 7th (conference league) is a reasonable target.

I take it you didn’t realise that Bin Laden was a Saudi, or that 15 of the 19 responsible for 9-11 were Saudis, or that the Saudi state has been proven to have funded these people during their time in America with living expenses, flying lessons, etc… prior to the atrocity.
Yeah but aside from this how do you know the KSA might have been involved?

Your avoiding it not surprising.
The Saudi state own your club.
What would they have to do for you to say enough and not hide behind this charade of owners don’t equal state !
Simple question.
By the way I know a Newcastle fan who like me at Sunderland has been going since the 60’s who went under Ashley reluctantly but has drawn a line at this new ownership as ‘not in my club’ He doesn’t think any success is worth having the stain of this regime providing the money !

It's crazy for this mag in piece to pretend the saudi atrocities have nothing to do with the club, just cos he has separated it from nufc, in his mind. They are denying reality. I fear for these newcastle fans mental health. I really do.

Would be a great acquisition. Don't see it happening though. He has far bigger clubs courting him.

Which Saudis? By asking me what else “they” would have to do suggests I am comfortable with what “they” have already done.

The Saudi state are beyond redemption. Their atrocities are disgusting. There is nothing they could do that would make me change my opinion on this.

However, we are not owned by the Saudi state. We are owned by a consortium of whom the largest stakeholder is PIF. I am aware the chairman of PIF is a member of the House of Saud. This is not what I would like but it is what has happened. I can only deal with this by separating the two, like the premier league have.

This is true

I don’t know whether I’m coming or going with this board. Several posters today have suggested our team plus diaby and tielemans would never make 8th.

*you’re

I’m not avoiding anything. The premise of your question is based upon an error.
The Saudi state do not own club. There are plenty of arguments to be made about links etc, but this is the actual fact. And as such, is why you and I will seemingly never be able to have a conversation about it.

I respect your friend’s stance.

He’s a great signing for man utd

They’re streets behind Liverpool and City but he’s a step in the right direction for them

So hiding well and truly behind an ownership fudge to justify supporting a club funded by an obscene regime. On field success > any atrocities.
So despite what you know nothing they can do would make you say ‘not at my club’ as long as they fund your ‘ownership’
Moral vacuum
