SMB Tennis thread

he was yes
He gets his first serve in within the time limit, theres no time limit for the 2nd seve

How would you know, unless you are personally timing him?

If you watch the coverage with McEnroe (who can actually see the shot clock) commentating, you will know that he doesn't! He goes nuts about it.

The only time I've seen them show the clock on screen he went well over.

The commentator said yesterday he was racing through his first serve and taking his time on the 2nd serve.

Cilic and Djokovic are worse, bouncing the ball 20 times before serving.

To be honest, I don't know if it's a deliberate strategy in his case, or part of his mental health issues/OCD. All those physical tics/routines take up time and who knows what is going on in his head?

It’s OCD and superstition. He won’t walk on any lines until he playing a point, he always back to the middle of the court then back to his seat at the change of ends, his water bottles face the middle of the service line. He’s a strange person.

Got nothing at all to hurt Rafa with and his backhand just happily sits short looping up mid court for Rafa to attack. Doesn't feel like a contest at all so far.

Nadal has been average as well, he'd be struggling against djokovic Zverev or Tsitsipas playing like this
Nadal playing like he did in the 2nd set against Zverev

Aside from the Djokovic match where he was excellent this match sort of sums up how Nadal has played at Roland Garros this year , nowhere near his best but still good enough to win.

I see no reason why he would retire yet mind , won the first two slams of the year and I would fancy him to beat anyone barring Djokovic at Wimbledon still.

He is not playing in Wimbledon

Nadal will take some catching in the goat race now mind, Djokovic looked certain of winning it a year ago but 3 slams is a lot for him to win now especially if he is still banned from Australia.

Wasnt much more than a 1st rounder that in terms of level

Hes banned from entering USA as it stands too, if he suffers a shock loss at Wimbledon then it will be tough

Yeah, his level went through the roof third set I thought but wasn't overly impressive first two sets.

Casper Ruud likely above Djokovic in the rankings in a few weeks time unless they freeze the Wimbledon points from last year  edit - or not actually, I've added an extra 1000 points on Ruud there. Ignore that

Yeah its a fair point on his 3rd set but was harder to judge as Ruuds level dipped massively at the same time, 7 points in the 3rd set is embarrassing.
Djokovic might not make the ATP finals if he cant get into USA for their tournaments

Yeah has virtually no competition at Wimbledon so would be surprised if he didn’t win that but even if he is allowed to play in USA his record their shows he is more than beatable .

Berrettini has a chance but I’m not sure if he’s injured. I can’t recall seeing him for a while.

Injured, targeting comeback at wimbledon.
Zverev, good on grass, probably misses wimbledon.
Federer injured.
Nadal will he play?
Felix i think could be in the final if hes in the other half to Djokovic.
