Why would he retire halfway through the season having just won a grand slam?

injuries, unless its all rumours, but he has struggled a lot with them and is 36 now, also next one is Wimbledon which takes a lot out of him and he has skipped sometimes in the past.

maybe was just me but I was knackered just watching that, tennis must be one of the toughest sports to play endurance-wise

He's already said he's skipping Wimbledon. Probably won't play again this year and will reappear for the Australian Open next year.

I cant blame him, that was kind of what I was angling at with the retirement comment, if he did win this one he would be going out on a high

Pretty boring set of finals really unless Coco plays at 100% for a couple hours to give Swiatek a match.

Think it's time to shift focus to big tournament this week and on to Sir Andrew Barron Murray being in the semi final of the Surbiton Slam tomorrow.

A first slam final for Coco and Ruud at least. Norway will be in meltdown tonight.

Apparently he hasn't actually, there's an article popped up on Marca not long after he was in press today saying he's not playing Wimbledon and the rest of the year is uncertain. Just looking on twitter now and there's a few journos (Stuart Fraser etc) saying it's nonsense and he hasn't announced anything just yet.

Edit - actually he's due to play Laver Cup with Fed this year isn't he? That'll definitely happen. I can't see him playing Wimbledon unless he's planning on retiring this year or after the French Open next year.

you try being out there at 36 years of age against young guns in tough conditions sweating your arse off.

ffs man

But he is breaking the rules on virtually every service point, the umpires just let him do what he wants. Must be unsettling for opponents wondering when he is actually going to get round to serving.

I find all his OCD tics fascinating though, especially the thing with the water bottles!

That 2nd set was getting ridiculous with him being constantly over the limit and the umpire not doing anything.
They also need to bring in a shorter limit for the 2nd serve as currently they have no time limit

He gets his first serve in within the time limit, theres no time limit for the 2nd serve.

Also he ALWAYS make his opponent wait to serve. I think it is incredibly rude for a player to not be ready when an opponent is serving
