It seems like that 40 mile Russian military convoy headed for Kyiv has either become bogged down or somehow lost their way.

If Putin escapes with his life from this, what will he think of all those corrupt yes men he surrounded himself with, who possibly / probably knew how this may turn out, but said nothing in case it upset him?

They can’t. He is a dick but he needs to be carefully dislodged with the West giving him an off ramp.

As someone said don’t be surprised if someone with nothing to lose acts like someone with nothing to lose.

Either that or the West best be 100% confident about his inner circle and the checks and balances they can put on his behaviour

Whatever happens the international community need to give reassurances that this economic posturing isn’t against Russia as a country or its people……….nobody is threatening them

This is a quarrel between the world and president putin’s government

There needs to be dialogue and concessions………diplomacy is always an option

The yanks have got close tabs on it via satellite. Fuel and keeps getting ambushed in small skirmishes, let's be honest it's 40 miles long, its an easy target!

As someone mentioned previously he's fucked the country in a week. Absolutely mental. I'm sure the youth of Russia will love being teleported back to to the 1950s.

He has lost credibility as a strategist, as a military power* and economist over the course of a week.

* It’s only their nuclear stockpile which holds them in this category.

It also has one of the largest armies in the world which makes it a power, not to mention its intelligence operations.

Seems to me he is hell bent on getting the land bridge to Crimea.

If he gets that, is that the out he needs? Would Ukraine concede that much land to save the rest of the country?

Can’t see the Ukrainians submitting to that. I’d imagine Russians turning up here uninvited and us giving them a chunk of Scotland wouldn’t be the end of it either.

No, but at the same time, they certainly aren’t covering themselves in glory. This has been a PR disaster for Putin’s army. Away from any actual fighting, it seems they can’t organise sufficient fuel to get to a planned destination. Military leaders the rest of the world over surely must be less concerned about going toe to toe with them if this did escalate or spill over into other territories. It is only they nuclear capability which has stopped everyone piling in and stopping this on the ground very quickly.
