Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

So given they’re quite obviously targeting civilians now, what’re our options here?

We can’t wade in because we cause WW3.

We can’t let him bomb fuck out of innocent Europeans.

Where does the civilised world go now?
Here is how we do it. Your beloved EU which wants to get so involved sets up it's own voluntary armed force. Let's calll it the EUVF as it has a nice ring about it. It then asks for volunteers from it's member states who are EU citizens to join. They could even ask further afield if they want and welcome others. Remember those jets they are supplying, well it purchases them and other military kit for nominal sums from it's member states- say a grand a jet. It then badges them with a blue roundel with yellow stars on them and bases them in western Ukraine. They then set about the Russians. The Russians can't hit them back as a country as they aren't one and NATO aren't involved. If the Russians attack one of the EU member states which is a Nato member then in we all pile in including the UK and US. At the end of the conflict it sells the kit back to the relevant parties for the same price.

There you go. The EU also become a major player which is what they want

A sad read in the Telegraph this morning about Russian soldiers being in complete disarray. Some are disobeying orders, whilst are simply just turning around and going back over the border.

It's easy to forget that most of those poor men are there and have no choice in the matter. They're victims as much as Ukrainians imo.

(The story is behind a paywall so not sure if I'm able to just copy and paste on here for people to read?)

Rumours on Twitter (I know ) that his generals are preparing a coup. Wish they’d hurry up and assassinate Putin.

Did anyone see the woman egging johnson on to create a no fly zone in that conference he was at? Thankfully he said no as it would accelerate ww3.
Thankfully he lets an enemy of the free world bomb an independent nation into smithereens? Riiiight.

No fly zone the least we should be doing.

Take out Putin with a targeted attack. No fly zone. Bomb Russian military installations around the border and the columns moving on Kyiv.

If it is WW3 it will be a very short one.

I'll give Boris where it's due..... He's done the best he can considering the restraints.

I mean if we're comparing Britain to other major nations, France have yet to still send anything, Germany sent 3000 helmets, countries in Southern Europe have done fuck all, Turkey sent a batshit of weaponised drones, even Japan and Canada have done than the NATO countries in Europe have.

He's still a tosser though.
Germany have sent 1000s of weapons after reversing 50-60 years of military policy.

France has sent air defence and digital weapons.

EU has directly sent £450million for weapons.

Agree he is a tosser.
Germany actually sent 5000 helmets, leading the way I’d say:lol:
See above

can you post the pertinent bits, i'm at graft so limited to what i can read ?

I mean, fuck Russia
but Molotov cocktails don’t sit right with me. The initial explosion is fine (for a war zone type of fine) but putting stuff like bleach or slow burning oil should be against the Geneva convention. It’s a form of chemical warfare
A thing Russia has done for atleast a decade now in Syria, but because it's happening in Europe why the sudden outrage?

If they say you can't use or do XYZ then not police it, then it's a bit pointless? I highly doubt the coppers from The Hague are gonna jump on a plane, put their sirens on and walk through Moscow with handcuffs.
Ignoring the slight whataboutery about Syria, if the Russians come ploughing through Sunderland firng shit at places and killing civilians while doing it, you'd think that those civilians protecting their lives and country shouldn't be able to stop and possibly kill the fuckers throwing shit at them because it sticks to the vehicle and burns a bit longer?

so who is telling the truth

See Putin restricting amount of cash folks leaving Russia can take with the is $10,000, convenient, don't have to declare cash when entering a country if $10,000 or less.

I'd be making the nastiest things I could to make sure the damage is done and a message is sent. Invaders aren't welcome, they come anywhere near and they get fucked up, simples.
Maria just dropped the f bomb live on BBC morning breakfast there

But why though? His grip on power has only gotten stronger over the years and there were no complaints from these people apparently when they went into Georgia and then annexed Crimea?

this bloke is probably more on the money. only includes verified losses.
he won't even include russian bomber below because he can't verify it was shot down

"An old tiger facing the end is often its most violent"

Putin is not done yet, and he still has more claws to unsheathe.

more russian gear just abandoned or captured without much effort.. in this case loads of supplies plus the tanks guarding it.

That doesn't necessarily mean the Russians left it without defending it. It might mean it was a storage facility/area which the Ukrainians fought for and captured

I'm impressed by the way the Ukrainians have fought

Clearly too many people in the upper echelons of the Russian state believed their own propaganda- they thought that ordinary Ukrainians would welcome Russian soldiers as liberators from the evil nazi government. It has been a massive shock that Ukrainians don't want to be run by Russia anymore

But there is a risk that we do the same- we assume that Putin's regime is equally fragile. it isn't. There may well be lost of Russians who would prefer Putin over a modern Western democracy
Surely no ordinary citizen wants to be ruled over by a crazy dictator who steals all of the nation's wealth?
