Putin has been planning it since 2015. Check how he's boosted financial reserves, upgraded defence spending, stoked the cost of living crisis by throttling gas supplies and finally waited until inflation is ripping through the West to start his military action thinking we won't be up for the fight if it affects our own interests.

I've said for a while England should pull out due to the human rights issues in Qatar (for me it's shallow taking the knee then planning to go to Qatar but best not debate that any further). The Russia issue just adds further belief we shouldn't entertain this and I'd like to think more Uefa teams ramped up pressure on Fifa.

I really hope this anti-war sentiment holds up and we start taking action against the criminals who are responsible for so many deaths across the world. Bush, Obama and Blair should be tried for war crimes for a start.

I just don't get how Russia cud run out of funds to keep their war effort going when they start from a much stronger financial position than the Germans did

the Germans plundered the occupied countries, thats the only reason they did'nt run out of money (and also one of the reasons why they kept going - if they'd stopped at any point then they would have ran out of loot)

Take a step back here, we've gone from supporting Ukraine with ammo and rockets to jets and encouraging people to travel over?

Ukraine aren't in NATO so there's no compelling need to do this from a bi-lateral agreement point of view.

This kind of support goes beyond a proxy and does it not and perhaps makes Russia come to the conclusion that the West are involving themselves to an extent which considers them participants?

And he did say anyone that intervenes and provides destructive means would be targeted?

It's quite the escalation.

The alternative is to sit idly by as a mad man forcefully takes over another country and lots of people get killed.

Sorry I disagree. Yesterday the UK was not allowing anyone to come without family connections and some Tory suggested they apply for fruit picking visas. If this is true about Bozo appearing in Church and announcing we are taking refugees then it is a u-turn since yesterday. Tories have been taking Stingers on Twitter all day over their stance.
