Ultimately, it’s closer to home and there are more British eyes on this conflict than any of the others. I’m not saying that any story is more powerful than the other.

We might be watching more carefully. But the Home Office will be doing their best to close their eyes

BREAKINGUkraine claims 4,300 Russian deaths so far

Ukraine's deputy defence minister has released an estimate of the losses she says the country's forces have inflicted on Russia so far.
Kyiv's Hanna Malyar said that the numbers for the first three days of the conflict were preliminary and liable to change.
The BBC is unable to verify these claims - and Russia has not released casualty numbers.
Ukraine estimates Russian military losses so far to include:
  • 4,300 deaths
  • 27 planes
  • 26 helicopters
  • 146 tanks
  • 706 armoured fighting vehicles
  • 49 cannons
  • 1 Buk air defence system
  • 4 Grad multiple rocket launch systems
  • 30 vehicles
  • 60 tankers
  • 2 drones
  • 2 boats

Gerrin Ukraine….
The main thing that sticks out to me is the loss of planes and helicopters. It’s the main advantage that Russia have. If they keep leaking air support then it removes any advantage. Hopefully those numbers are true.

On the ground I fancy Ukraine to win.

Yes, our security is a luxury that affords some us to hold values and remain consistent to them. Don't think for a second I don't appreciate that or how other people earned it for us.
I do think that. You have a right to think what you like and so do I. I find your stance baffling in view of the onslaught by the Russians. Sometimes there are good guys and bad guys the fact that you cannot see this I find amazing.

Greece sending military aid to Ukraine today with two Greek air force C-130 planes via Poland.
Huge policy shift by Greece
Greece confirmed 10 nationals were killed and 6 injured in Mariupol yesterday, pretty sure that will be a major factor in the change of policy for them, guessing the general public change their thoughts too when it's their own people dying who have only went there to better themselves or for family.

I do see that which is why I support international law as a means to address the problems of aggressors in international conflict and recognise Putin as the bad guy in that regard.

I also see that the situation is more involved than just good guys v bad guys. As a whole, are the people of eastern Ukraine the good guys or the bad guys? When Adam Schiff stood in front of the senate in 2020 to explain the US is sending arms to Ukraine so it can fight Russia there, was he being a good guy or bad guy?

I respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and have always wished it well on the road to democracy but its being used as a pawn in a geopolitical game, that doesn't sit well with me.

I can’t believe how many people in here won’t believe that they are being racist towards black people. So many people wishing everyone all the best but at the same time ignoring the fact Africans are being discriminated against. Our country really does have a problem with racism which is something I didn’t believe myself.

I’m seeing reports that anyone who isn’t a Ukrainian citizen is being denied crossing the border, not just black people.

Is this the case? Or are there examples of say a British man being allowed through and a Nigerian being denied? Because that is a very important detail.

I'm amazed at how much gear has been abandoned by the russian's. i appreciate things break down, take incoming fire etc but we had recovery vehicles in our regiment so we'd get them towed to where they could be repaired etc.
the russians just seem to say 'fuck it, if you can't keep up you're on your own'.
