been catching up on the news what the latest developments are and the removal from the russians from the swift banking system is the most important one for me. hopefully it's a way to stop this with less bloodshed.
i know some posters on here had reservations but imo it's something that should've happened a while ago.

As long as it has the effect it needs to. Some people suggested it wouldn’t. I really really hope it does. If anything, queues at atms in Moscow this morning show that it’s shaken some people so that’s a benefit.

Yes but these people are clearly living in Ukraine, a lot will be students. If Ukraine was one massive racist country then they wouldn’t have been allowed to live, work and study there seemingly in peace.

I can’t believe how many people in here won’t believe that they are being racist towards black people. So many people wishing everyone all the best but at the same time ignoring the fact Africans are being discriminated against. Our country really does have a problem with racism which is something I didn’t believe myself.

If you think @HellsBells is a racist you have clearly lost the plot. Is there racism in Ukraine? Undoubtedly. Does the videos linked prove Africsns were discriminated against? No.

I didn't say I don't believe that there are racists in Ukraine. Having spent a lot of time in Eastern Europe (half of my family is Slavic) I'm confident there are idiots everywhere (including the UK). What I disagree with though is that what has been shared here shows racism.

It’s one of the many videos and stories. You can see it all over Twitter many videos of Africans being discriminated against. It’s clear to me that there is racism taking place in these instances. There was one person who was told they weren’t allowed through and Ukrainians first and then had to stand and watch thousands of people get to safety. There is clear racism happening especially at the polish border.

1/2 German NTV news mentioned that Putin might hold a speech today. He's obviously backed into a corner which means he could threaten the West with everything he's got - nuclear intervention included. Possibly a prelude to a great and desperate offensive before West's arms arrive

2/2 Last night's larger offensive does not seem to have achieved any remarkable goals for Russia. The speech might be an attempt to get Zelensky into Minsk to "negotiate" through intimidation, we'll have to wait and see. Zelensky will certainly deny this offfer to meet in Minsk

I think it's more likely that people will believe it but at this moment it's not the priority, racism is bad accross and lot eastern European countries as it is in the UK and has gotten worse recently, do you know who funds the hate groups that want closed borders and fractured society?? Russia and China, they benefit from a closed world border more than anyone.

I doubt that resonates much with Muslim communities in Europe, Jews aren't the only targets of Nazi groups.

Putin is using the rise of the far right (ironic I know) as a propaganda tool but it doesn't mean the threat doesn't exist and is immediate for some people. For obvious reasons, you'll find the left making the most noise about it but every ideologue is making hay out of this crisis.
