I know (and any historian now knows) what role the war in Afghanistan played in the collapse of the USSR. Consider it
Sadly it will be the man on the street who feels the brunt of the Russian sanctions. As we will see in the coming weeks. You must be logged on to see media items

That's how it works marra unfortunately and that's why everyone is now scrambling to be part of NATO - it's worth remembering that it works in reverse anarl, Suez or the Second Arab Israeli War involved both France and the UK and the conflict was only stopped after pressure from both Superpowers and more recently the Iran-Saudi Arabia proxy conflict where the US are supporting Saudi and its allies with both Russia and China supporting Iran and it's pals, ironically former Russian PM Dimitry Medvedev has recently categorised this as the 'New Cold War'...I've a funny feeling mind that it may soon warm up along with China/Taiwan to take some of the worlds attention from Ukraine, time tells but it'll be interesting that's for sure.I understand why people feel that way, but where does it end? If the logic is
“We can’t get involved with Russia or they’ll use nukes”
Doesn’t that immediately invalidate NATO? Because if it was say, Estonia they invaded, wouldn’t that nuclear threat still exist?
That just means we have to let Russia do what they want when they want or else they’ll use nukes.
He's previously spoken positively about Putin but now says the soviet-afghanistan was a big reason why the ussr collapsed. The Radio station is the biggest commercial one in Moscow and owned by Gazprom.
Well said, have a like. That's how it works marra unfortunately and that's why everyone is now scrambling to be part of NATO - it's worth remembering that it works in reverse anarl, Suez or the Second Arab Israeli War involved both France and the UK and the conflict was only stopped after pressure from both Superpowers and more recently the Iran-Saudi Arabia proxy conflict where the US are supporting Saudi and its allies with both Russia and China supporting Iran and it's pals, ironically former Russian PM Dimitry Medvedev has recently categorised this as the 'New Cold War'...I've a funny feeling mind that it may soon warm up along with China/Taiwan to take some of the worlds attention from Ukraine, time tells but it'll be interesting that's for sure.
his twitter's in Russian obvs, but even so it seems clearly anti the invasion? He's previously spoken positively about Putin but now says the soviet-afghanistan was a big reason why the ussr collapsed. The Radio station is the biggest commercial one in Moscow and owned by Gazprom.
