The first reply, we need to be careful with these pictures. I hate to say it, but Ukraine are putting a lot of propaganda out.
Just 15 mins ago, the knacker has even posted the message he got from the lass who sent him it!

Yet in a reply to him there is a tweet from KGB Files from early morning on the 25th at 2:35am with the image she's obviously copied. Ignore 26th timestamp as that's the time the retweet was posted, not the original. Why he hasn't deleted it after being shown it's bullshit is just pathetic. His tweet has over 1,000 likes anarl and this is his Bio.

Any mod able to comment why this isn't in the normal forum?

I don't talk politics crap but I like to read and share about what is going on in this situation. Aye it may have some political jibber jabber now and then but surely overall many people who won't even venture into the Politics forum may well read the thread to stay up to date and join in if it was in the normal SMB forum?
Should have it's own page just like the Covid one

Looks like Kyiv and Kharkiv are about to get battered. Luckily Ukraine had been advising for days for people to take cover so hopefully in metros, bomb shelters and. Underground parking it will look a lot worse then it is. And they will emerge even more determined when the Russians follow up by rolling into the city

Unfortunately, I think the military part still carries too much weight to not class them as a superpower. Otherwise the response to Ukraine would be entirely different.

Their army & equipment is a mixed bag old/new, professional/conscripts but their Air Force is fairly modern and substantial. Their navy too.
Still a force to be reckoned with no doubt about that.

Need to exploit their vulnerabilities, which here seems to be command & control, supply and motivation

25% conscription apparently. I think that number will be a lot higher.

The main issue Russia still has is that NCOs and junior officers aren’t regulars (or at least long serving regulars).

This explains a lot of it.

Conscription is taken seriously there too. My best friend is Russian, he came over here in 2003 and I met him at school. When he turned 18 his mother wouldn’t let him go back, she said she’d seen soldiers pulling people aside as they got off flights who lived abroad but were Russian citizens and carted them off to find out why they weren’t reporting for conscription. He didn’t go back until he turned 30.

It has been suggested that there should be a thread on the main board not just in the politics section, as this is of such importance, so here it is.
