ceased operations in late 2015. In 2016, three power stations closed at , and . closed in 2018 and was granted consent to convert into a gas fired power station. power station converted to in 2018 and is being converted to an plant. and shut down operations in 2019, closed in 2020 and stopped burning coal in March 2021.

I would imagine it wouldn't take more than a year to get a fair number of those back up and running if needed?

I'm no fan of coal, but we need to have energy security. I'd also lash solar panels on every factory roof in the country personally. And as I've said, we should be relying on nuclear far more than Russian gas and middle east oil.

Hydro... Might lose a valley or three but it offers far more and can be switched on and off as demand required .

There was a very interesting interview on BBC Today this morning saying that CPS couldn't go after money laundering oligarchs because the Government has cut the CPS budget to the bone. As a result the oligarchs just throw money at their defence and the CPS gives up. Can't think why this Government would allow that to happen.
I can believe it. And have no idea why they’d allow that to happen either.

'Orange Man Bad'
He went too far threatening to withdraw from nato but to be fair to the bloke he’s absolutely right in that clip.

Germany need to remember what they’ve caused twice and put their supposed morals first. Trump is bang on when he suggests Russia have Germany over a barrel with their pants round their ankles

Trump is a c**t though

But the UK's greatest national myth is basically that we were the good type of invader, coloniser, and that the millions of deaths and the reourposing of other people's wealth and people without permission was basically fine.
Its quite a moment when people brought up being told of the proud empire its nation had and how much of the world it ruled over, suddenly have a moment of realising what the rest of the world has been taught about it

Pull the money off his mates and watch how quickly they turn on him. Nobody seems willing to want to do that though.
It's arnly day two.But if the measures start effecting his cronies I wadn't be shocked if all of sudden he steps aside before they start "planning".He's 70 and will want to enjoy what's left of his life. The next guy will come in promising change....😆😁

Yes.
Should have done all this shit 25 years ago. We have shit tons of water, wind and coastline, why aren't we using them?

And I really think all industrial units should be forced to provide at least 50% of their power requirements through renewables. Most likely solar panels on their roofs. Far better idea than putting them on perfectly good farm land.

Not just taught, but experienced.

Is the British empire relevant to what is happening now like? Just wondering if we should all stop posting because we should all feel guilty about what has happened before a lot of us was born.

Edit - Yep, looks like they're all knocked down, pretty much. Ohwell.
A government that wasn't dependent on Russian money and Russian lobbying probably wouldn't have allowed this to happen in the first place, but they're certainly not going to overturn it.

For God’s sake.

We might not have finished last had they been allowed to compete.
Just out of curiosity,

Who would stay, stand firm and fight?

Who on the other hand would say that they are not fighting for the likes of Reece-Mog, Duncan-Smith etc?

I would be in two minds as I hate people like R-M and D-S and all they stand for. However, in the end I think I'd stay and go Full Tonto!

If there’s people invading your homeland you aren’t fighting for the government.

Where you born after the Iraq war mate? Would certainly explain the maturity of your posts mind
