Big mistake was letting defenders go if there is no replacements, crazy. We will certainly struggle until end of the season. I'm not sure if there is any decent free agent defenders out there but I'd be certainly looking for them right now.

How's that.. keane will give them confidence just ask young Henderson and colback what he did for them and alot of young lads who were playing at the time... a winning mentality is what he will bring to them

Wonder if Speakman is playing a power game?? God knows, that interview today was a mood killer, similar to a David Moyes motivational speech, like you said earlier , this club does my head in, it’s a proper clusterfuck at the minute.

I said it on another thread - we have a serious problem in this “structure”, whereby the people making major decisions relevant to the first team, are NOT the person who has to take responsibility for first team results.

Speakman made the inexplicable decision on Monday, to leave this club with only two fit senior centre halves. Easy decision for him to make - he’s not the person who gets sacked if results go south. No manager (I.e. the person who’s head is actually on the block) would ever even contemplate doing that. It’s madness.

The power has to come with the responsibility. Otherwise no sane person is going to take on the responsibility. Who wants to be sacked for decisions other people have made?!

I do wonder if the strategy was PR. Get the max crowd out of Defoe and announce Keane before Tuesday. If so it couldn't have gone worse.

Succession planning is a basic for any long term business plan, and in my eyes, this has shown that they clearly hadn't forseen LJ going, or planned for it, even though they felt it right to pull the trigger when they did.

Good organisations always have a contingency plan in case things take a turn for the worst. Johnson’s sacking can’t have been a knee jerk reaction from the pitiful display at Bolton. His credentials were being questioned after our dreadful results and failures end of last season! So why didn’t we have a shortlist of experienced/successful coaches who could bring success to the club. We can’t afford not to get 3 points Tuesday night.
