A short term answer is exactly what we need, IMO. It’s February, Wigan have loads more points to play for, we need someone to come in, sort the mess in the dressing room out, get the lads performing and get us out of this division.
We don’t have the luxury of time, and a short term appointment won’t ruin the long term plan the club’s supposed to have.

Everything now has to be about promotion this season, whatever it takes. Else it’s a fifth season down here.
The longer we’re down here, the less chance we have of attracting good players and managers, and the lower our profile drops.
When we needed to stay up we changed managers and it all had the desired effect. They were normally, with the exception of Advocaat, permanent appointments. People going on about Keane and Warnock being guarantees of promotion are kidding themselves. Players will respond better to managers here because they are right appointments rather than Ones here for 17 games.

What you are arguing sounds logical but is as likely to fail as succeed.

Who would you go for?

Have people said they’re guarantees of promotion?

I totally get that. There’s no guarantees with any manager. However, I think the natural lift it’d give the club and supporters would give us an edge straight away. We could succeed or fail with any manager, it’d be more exciting, albeit for a while, if it was with Keane IMO.

Neil or the bloke from Forest Green or possibly others. I'd get behind Keane obviously but Warnock would depress me. I am excited by what KLD/Speakman are putting in place. It's the first time in forever that owners are trying to in a proper structure in place. To get Warnock in would say to me they have lost their nerve in a year. Just like Short did with Congleton.

Of course we need to go up but the vision we now have is for 10 years plus.

The roof would come off if Keane was back. It might not work, but it would give everyone a massive boost. Since there's no guarantee whoever we get, I'd rather try Keane. At least a bit of excitement. If it works then brilliant. If not, at least it's summer where there'll be more managers / coaches or whatever available

Gawd ‘elp us!
We could be living in domes on Mars by then!

I totally agree with you, I just feel like we've almost ran out of options to get us out of league 1 at present.
