Roy Keane

I totally get that. There’s no guarantees with any manager. However, I think the natural lift it’d give the club and supporters would give us an edge straight away. We could succeed or fail with any manager, it’d be more exciting, albeit for a while, if it was with Keane IMO.
I get that with Keane but certainly not with Warnock. Keane wouldn't talk to Short and walked out when things got tough. How people think he'd work with a DOF is beyond me. Maybe he's changed...........

I think he'd be able to get on board with a young, hungry lad like KLD who isn't thick as **** regards knowledge of the game, and who is hungry to succeed.

Keane would just ask KLD to let him get on with it and give him a bit space at first, as any manager would.

Keane saw straight through short for what he was.

Short may we’ll have been a difficult man to work with, who knows! Didn’t Keane say he’d never return as long as Short was there, or was that someone else?

Neil or the bloke from Forest Green or possibly others. I'd get behind Keane obviously but Warnock would depress me. I am excited by what KLD/Speakman are putting in place. It's the first time in forever that owners are trying to in a proper structure in place. To get Warnock in would say to me they have lost their nerve in a year. Just like Short did with Congleton.

Of course we need to go up but the vision we now have is for 10 years plus.

If the vision is for ten years or more, is Neil or the bloke from Forest Green the level of aspiration?

Effectively, the set up we have is meant to ensure it doesn’t really matter who is head coach as long as they are qualified for the role and buy into whatever it is they plan to do.

An effective short term appointment now could enable us to be in a better position for the long term in the summer. At this stage of the season and with recruitment not on the agenda, I wouldn’t be against a short term appointment.
Yes, plenty have.

Fair enough. I’ve not read any tonight.

We got beaten 4-1 at home to Bolton. We could all see relegation ahead and Keane walked out. I can see his appeal but he had 2 decent seasons in management and the rest was rubbish. The bloke has massive flaws. Not saying he wouldn't have an effect or that I wouldn't get excited but he has massive flaws and would walk out at some point.

Aye, he said that about Short.

Short was a complete tosser to keane in their first meeting supposedly.

He wouldn't be suitable for the Prem for a long, long time.

He could do a job in the football league though given the right environment and set of lads. Has before, can again.

You just know we’ll ‘have had interest from all over the world’ and end up with a lad with about 25 games in pro management under his belt from Forest Green.

I think all the prospective candidates will have imperfections-if they didn’t league 3 wouldn’t be where they are at
The chance to manage in front of 30000 plus with our infrastructure -a positive new owner may sway one or two who are above our level to apply ?
I wouldn’t be against the Forest Green boss or even Nigel Clough ( he hasn’t had much money wherever he has been as I recall )
Keano though would be my choice if we were looking short team until end of season with a view to re assess

Who is doing exceptionally well -which is all he can do

Cheers for that, a very good read! I wonder where we’d have ended up if Short had got on with him and he’d stayed?!
You‘d think a businessman of Short’s level would’ve sussed out how to speak to Roy Keane! Imagine if it’d been face to face!

Would have been fireworks.

Imagine if Keane had stayed a few more years and had to put up with Shorts henchmen DOF clowns.

There'd have been a ****ing riot before probably one of the messiest resignations in recent history.

Boris Bear has got me like this now.

I would probably scream if it happens.

Its funny that Alex Neil was appointed by Norwich in the January and galvanized them and took them up via the play offs that year. He did the exact job we'd like done now. Ok it was a few years ago but so was Keane's success or Warnock's. People say we need someone to turn us round or give us the spark - something Neil did in a very similar time frame to get Norwich into the Prem. I'm not saying he's an amazing appointment but he's done what we want but some just don't want to recognise that or give it value.

I could imagine Short having an enormous ego, which isn’t compatible with working with Keane.
I think Kyril would have enormous respect for Keane and listen to what he says. Keane could teach him a lot of things about the game and its politics.
Shit, bedtime! Time got away from me. Anyway, fingers and toes crossed!
