We have a young team, learning their trade, they've been hammered a few times this season and we are low on mental strength.

I honestly cant think of anyone worse in the whole universe to take over thiese players.

You can’t think of anyone worse than the bloke who captained Man Utd through one of the most successful periods a club has ever had in the history of football? Or the bloke who came into the club you (presumably) support with no managerial experience and took it from rock bottom of the championship having been relegated with a record low points total, when the cub was at its lowest ebb, and took it up as champions?

dont confuse high standards with an inability to instill self confidence and belief in people

Would Keane drop to league 1 realistically? I know he said he wanted to get back in management and considers dropping to championship but no mention of league 1.

Despite all the noises, I suspect he is happy in TV. It’s extremely well paid and he has managed brilliantly to position himself as the pantomime villain on Sky and ITV.

Do I think he would take our job? Eventually, yes - but he’d want a fortune to walk away from Sky. Removing sentiment, for the price you’d probably pay for Keane, you’d be able to get a better manager with a more proven track record. For example, I’m in no doubt that BSA would take the job if the money was right.

Than man got Nyron Nosworthy to believe he was a CB...

Neil Warnock’s been on 5 Live tonight with John O’Shea, with Kelly Dalglish.

I’m listening back now to see if he says owt.
warnock probs just said “I’m keen “ to be the Sunderland manager
I would also have Keano in a heartbeat

For us? Definitely, IMO. I think he’d take the job in a heartbeat, provided we are prepared to offer a deal that’s attractive enough.
He has unfinished business here that I’m sure he’d like to sort out.

I really don’t know who we should go for, but I’ve got to admit that for better or for worse, I’d be absolutely buzzing if Keano returned. One of the most exciting managerial appointments we’ve ever had. It raised our profile and the football was great. He loved the area and really understood the people and the supporters.

Maybe it wouldn’t work out, who knows. However, it’d be worth it for the ride, IMO. We’re in the third division, exciting managers aren’t going to be applying for the job. Even if it’s just until the end of the season, I’d love to see him back.

It’s a coin toss as to whether it would be genius or disaster - which I guess is the fun of it. I generally find the safc fanbase’s taste for rampant nostalgia to be completely ridiculous. But the prospect of Keane is night and day from the prospect of a whiny arsehole like Poyet.

His return would provide levels of excitement to the fanbase that no other character could. I don’t think people should underestimate the power of momentum and a club in a good mood. It may be short lived but that’s all it’d need to be at this stage of a season.

he wouldnt take the pay cut, wouldnt work witha DOF and wouldnt know how to handle players at this level.
Do you know how much he’s earning, and how do you know he definitely wouldn’t work with a DoF?
The bloke’s a world class winner, he’s worked with all sorts of players and won shitloads with them.
People change, times change, top pros adapt, losers miss out.
Keano’s no loser!

I suspect Defoe could have got more money playing elsewhere and didn’t need us or the dosh
