Do you know how much he’s earning, and how do you know he definitely wouldn’t work with a DoF?
The bloke’s a world class winner, he’s worked with all sorts of players and won shitloads with them.
People change, times change, top pros adapt, losers miss out.
Keano’s no loser!
the keane that would work with a DOF would be a different person to the keane you guys think can be a football manager at safc now
I could imagine Short having an enormous ego, which isn’t compatible with working with Keane.
I think Kyril would have enormous respect for Keane and listen to what he says. Keane could teach him a lot of things about the game and its politics.
Shit, bedtime! Time got away from me. Anyway, fingers and toes crossed!
well any football club owner should have an enormous ego...keane keeps fa;ling out with football booses..is he the probelm?

Its funny that Alex Neil was appointed by Norwich in the January and galvanized them and took them up via the play offs that year. He did the exact job we'd like done now. Ok it was a few years ago but so was Keane's success or Warnock's. People say we need someone to turn us round or give us the spark - something Neil did in a very similar time frame to get Norwich into the Prem. I'm not saying he's an amazing appointment but he's done what we want but some just don't want to recognise that or give it value.
I mentioned Neil to an ex pro who knows him from his PNE stint. This guy remarked that if we think Johnson was a clever arrogant type, wait til we find out what Neil is about. Has a terrible reputation allegedly. I remarked he'd done quite well, but got a dirty look :p

This is not what we need.

Roy Keane may have delivered us some of our best memories of Sunderland fans, but the reality is his personality is ill suited to management and on leaving us his record waded poorly.

His problem is not his skills or knowledge of the game, but the fact he has a bad temper, awful man management skills and holds long term grudges.

When things go wrong he is capable of breaking morale across an entire club, falling out with players and owners and turning things south results wise.

Thanks for the memories Roy but league one is really not a walk in the park and he's bound to get frustrated quickly.

Agree. It just stinks of same old story with him for me like we know the ending

How the fuck did he get us from rock bottom of the league to promoted as champions then?

Talk about re-writting history.

Keane back would be a disaster - been out of management, no money, a squad that will not meet his exacting standards.

He’s not capable of getting a tube out of this squad.

Had a 43% win percentage with us, higher than any manager over the last 30 years bar Ross, Johnson and Reid (who is only at 45% himself.)

Look at the rest of his managerial career since.

I don't deny he was amazing for us. But nuance is needed here Keith.
When you're in the shit (3rd with more games played) you need passion, momentum and desire to the do the seemingly impossible. That is Roy Keane in a nutshell.

If we end up in the play offs you need people to step up for the big occasion. Again experience wise Keane ticks that box.

This isn't about being clever or cute. This is a grasp the nettle and go for it scenario. If we fall short at least we have given it our best shot.

Or we could have kept Johnson or employ someone of his ilk and sleep walk to another season or 2 in this backwater of a division.

Could Roy Keane achieve promotion this season and sweep through the Championship next season? Yes he could. Who else could? Not f***ing many. Yes, any appointment could go wrong but I say roll the dice and strap ourselves in. It won't be boring!

If we didnt approach Forest Green Rovers to talk to a young manager who is storming L2 . Then Keane is the man . By the current RTG survey hes the fans choice too.
