Boro and wycombe suing Derby County

Our claim, just so you know, is because after the season had finished Mel Morris admitted in an interview that he delayed getting the finances in on time on purpose, as he knew that would then mean that Derby were deducted points this season rather than last, so they would stay up instead of us, so they could then claim the 6 million TV money. That's what prompted our claim, unfortunately its a bit of an American thing I think, like our owner. Like I say most of us don't want it, we went down because we ddnt get enough points. You'll find quite a few Derby fans actually think we have more of a claim than Boro, who's claim is ridiculous. Derby have been cheating horrendously for years, and the fans were quite happy to put up with it while Morris was there. But I do not want them to go bust over it

Good post.

If what you say is true, then I doubt any fan deep down would be happy if their team were relegated in those circumstances.

It just opens a massive can of worms.

You should have never been promoted in the first place

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

They've done nothing different to what any other club would have done, makes me laugh at how disliked they are on here for something Sunderland would have done too.
Imagine being that bitter and petty man. It's laughable. They rightly voted in their best interests and that's pretty much it. Then they were relegated by the fact the team immediately above them cheated their accounts to stay up. Same people would be moaning like fuck if it was us on the receiving end of that.

This is how money ruins football, boro and Wycombe just doing what any business would do and protecting their interests above all else, that's how capitalism works we're all part of it, it's not a conspiracy to ruin the game it's just an intended consequence of free market ruining a social institution.

Boro's claim is completely spurious and should be dismissed immediately. Derby lost a play off final against QPR who were fined a huge amount for breaching FFP and they didn't get any compensation, why should Boro who as someone else has pointed out would still need to get through 3 matches to go up?

I have a lot more sympathy for Wycombe as they have done nothing but act in the best interest of the club as every club has done and will do forever. Derby deliberately held back the accounts to avoid a penalty last season (which should perhaps be a penalty in itself) which would have kept Wycombe up. But I wish there was a way that liability could be passed on to Mel Morris, it was his call, his management and he just walks away to leave the club to deal with it. For such a big fan of the club his actions over the last couple of years are absolutely deplorable. Walking away from crap like this, selling the ground to another company that isn't in administration..... you're looking at £60m plus potential lawsuits to buy the name Derby County and about 2 players who'll be in contract at the end of the season. It's absolutely shameful what has happened at Derby.

I think you'll find that most Wycombe fans do support this compensation claim, myself included. That seems to be the consensus on the Gasroom and Twitter.

As you say, Morris admitted in a BBC interview that he deliberately didn't submit their accounts (which they knew failed FFP) by the EFL deadline, purely because it would have relegated them instead of us. If Sunderland were in Wycombe's position you guys would be absolutely fuming too - it's disgraceful.

No-one wants to see Derby liquidated, but we're pursuing a compensation claim which has a decent basis, and I think Rob is doing the right thing here. I'm sure an agreement will be reached in the end. Please don't start talking about PPG and how we shouldn't have been there in the first place. I can't be bothered to go over those arguments again, but the fact is we were in the Championship under a system agreed to by the EFL and the vast majority of clubs. How we got there has absolutely no relevance to the Derby case anyway

I actually agree with this. From what the Wycombe fans are saying it sounds like they have a decent case. Equally I don't dislike them over the PPG thing. I think it was a disgrace like but I firmly blame the EFL for it. They are meant to run the league, they should have decided how to finish it. Allowing clubs to vote when the majority had nowt to play for so might as well stop, and others would benefit from stopping, meant they just passed the buck for the decision which they knew was coming.

If we had been in Wycombe's position and we'd voted to play on I'd have questioned those running the club, their responsibility is to their club. Similar to how I'm a bit miffed that we seem to be one of the only clubs trying to play on (dropping vital points as we go) when we had the option to postpone. Teams should be forced to play, but if others aren't playing fair we shouldn't either. For both situations I blame the soft cocks at the EFL, not the individual clubs
