It's the other stuff! e.g.

"Even if Wood loses his starting place on Wilson’s return, he will be deemed money well spent if he helps Newcastle avoid the fate they suffered in 2009 and 2016.

Should the worst happen, Trippier and Wood are players who would be expected to excel in the second tier, helping help secure promotion at the first attempt, but no one at St James’ Park wants to contemplate that possibility. When, last October, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund purchased a majority 80% stake in a club co-owned with the minority shareholders Amanda Staveley and Reuben Brothers, it certainly did not envisage suffering the spectacular loss of face across the Middle East which would accompany relegation."
Trippier to play in the championship? Not sure about that either.
Newcastle are adding
Burnley are taking away and then quickly looking to replace
Massive difference
What Burnley we’re doing wasn’t working though. They were going down with Wood in the side.

They have rolled the dice.

Love how they are trying to spin the narative that this signing is exactly the same as when City signed Bellamy, the media are again proving embarrassing in their bias towards them.

Seems like they are building their own version of Dad’s Army. They’ll be signing 39 year old Defoe next and hailing it as a brilliant signing.

£25m

It's like one of those crazy release clauses you put in for your players on Football Manager, knowing it will never be hit

Burnley look absolutely fucked anyway, but how funny would it be if they signed a replacement for a fraction of that fee who ended up firing them to survival
Cornet was £13m and he is their top scorer (albeit with 6, admittedly). No reason they can’t do it again and they probably have someone lined up anyway

Good signing, shows money is no object when you can afford to pay £25 million for a backup striker to cover your main striker who is out for 8 weeks, not many teams could do that.
A fair few clubs can tbf not as if it’s £80m for a back up striker you utter prat

£25m for Chris Wood 😂😂😂😂😂
