Gooch is awful

The thing with Gooch is, is that when he has a bad spell it seems to last for a canny few games and he can be really poor in that period. Then all of a sudden he produces a great performance which is why he really divides opinion amongst safc fans.

To be fair to him he's played pretty well lately hopefully he keeps it up

I think - like all of the litany of midfielders we've played there in this division - he looks good at fullback or wingback because the league is f***ing woeful, and he offers a lot going forward from that position.

The problem is that (like all the rest of the midfielders we've played there) he defensively isn't good enough to play there against anyone who is actually any good, and he's nowhere near consistent enough going forward to be worth his place further up the pitch. For someone who has now played plenty of games, he's also pretty stupid and never looks up.

This isn't taking anything away from the way he's done recently but he still isn't very good, he's not improved in the slightest as he's got older, and I don't think anyone would be surprised in the slightest if he went on a shocking run of form, particularly if he gets moved up the pitch now we've got two left backs approaching something like full fitness.

(edit - should add that I'd never question his attitude or commitment!)

Have you watched the Past few season? Reiterate my point, he is nowhere near as good as he should be really is he?

As he should be? Eh?

He’s a good league one player

Yeah, he's versatile, and he definitely has a lot more talent than your average League One player. It's not like I'm desperate to never see him again but if I never did I wouldn't care. He has been pretty woeful for the vast majority of this season IMO

5-0 up in injury time and the bloke behind me shouts out “Gooch you’re awful” for delaying his cross. I despair.

Thought he was nailed on to get a red the way he was carrying on in the 10 minutes after the pen appeal.

At least he held it together

Hope the Bob can take the OP back.
The lad played in 3 or 4 positions tonight and did well in everyone.
His versatility is so important at the moment with the injury crisis and I think the lads effort should be appreciated not get hacked to death for the odd mistake he makes here and there.
Got to remember to not get involved with the ref's - they are shite to a man - and concentrate on his game and getting his job(s) done. Excellent tonight.
