How much per month do you need to live?

Oddly I get random questions like that as well. I have no idea on any of it. I go out to work and my pay goes into our account.
I know that we overpay on the mortgage and I know at a glance exactly what we have left to pay on it (which isn’t much and could be paid off in full now if we chose), how much we owe on our credit card which gets paid off in full every month, what’s in our savings account, what’s in our daily account, what’s in crypto, what’s in our superannuation account. Not being big headed I know that because of her budgeting we aren’t that badly off at all and we don’t have to worry at all about cash.

Thing is, if it was left to me then I would be living in a cardboard box underneath the Wear Bridge and I’d be gobbling off rent boys for baccy money by now and Mrs K would be nowhere to be seen.
I'm not an expert on the matter, but I don't think that's how rent boys work.

Expensive cardboard rectangles for me, although in my defence I often sell others after I've bought.
Undoubtedly... but full of knowledge. I also like having them on my shelves. I like looking at them even if I haven't read them yet. (And it's not a Jones thing, I can't remember the last time anybody visited since before the first lockdown).

170? Id love that 😬

We are bad for food but £800? Jesus

Latest for us is residentials. Skiing in France FFS. Over £1K.

Can remember when my little un came home from St Anthony's one day with a letter about going to somewhere in South America to help build a school or summat. Wanted summat ridiculous like £4k paid in four months. Let the bairn down gently but unfair of schools to put parents in that position. There was a few that did go like and can imagine a bit of gloating did go on in the playground.

Anyhow, I'm not completely heartless, I did offer to pay for her to spend the summer somewhere volunteering after she done her A levels (Covid and travel restrictions scuppered that though).

House - £2,250
Gas, Electric, Water, Internet etc - £180 (Due to increase)
Food - Probably £600
Travel - £200ish

Fairly minimalist after my bills, investments and what not come out for the month tbh.

That's your mortgage payment?!

Christ on a bike. I thought we were pushing it at £750 or whatever it was

Oxfam in The Bridges? ;)

I agree like, it's proper harsh on kids to see their friends and peers being able to go on school trips abroad. Most families would love their kids to go but 4 grand is mental. There's no way I could find that amount.

I'm trying to save as much as I possibly can in case my two make it to (and want to go to) university. Elder lad is just turned 12 but that's still not long to try to find that amount of coin.
