That was to push the takeover through though which was their sole mission to get operation sportswash underway.

Why haven't they waved more cash at Emery if the sky is the limit?
At 6 million a year emery wasn't exactly cheap and he'd probably need sacking at some point so I dunno

They need to decide on what style of football they want

Then get a DoF

Then get a manager

I don’t think they’ve done the first one yet - they just seem (supporters and owners alike) obsessed with getting a manager in

I’m sure by now KLD had imparted his vision and philosophy upon all of us* 😎

*although he omitted the piss weak defending of balls into the box 😢
That's what makes the SMB so great, it takes the piss out of Sunderland better than any Newcastle fan could dream of

They were a strange oxymoron before, a mix of delusional arrogance and fragile neediness.

They are even worse now as they have the swagger of being 'the richest club in the world' as they now think they can just buy everything and everyone, that coupled with the self perpetuating myth of the mighty massive Newcastle United and they just think that the world should fall at their feet and they cant seem to understand why this isn't happening.

It's like before the takeover all their frustrations and excuses about why they weren't re-living the 'glory days' or assuming their rightful place at the head of the top table were all Mike Ashleys fault and if anyone tried to tell them any different it was fingers in the ears time and shout you down.........after all what did little old Sunderland know about the machinations of this mighty superclub - after all nothing massages a fragile ego better than putting someone else down to make yourself feel better. I honestly think that a lot of them just thought that waving the cash around would have everyone scampering, well I mean, that's the only thing thats been holding them back all this time while the evil Ashley has been in charge, isnt it? Well thats what they've spent the last 14 years telling themselves anyway.

You haven't been sufficiently briefed. Due to Ashley's years of mis-management the project is starting at a significant handicap.

Firefighter seems like an odd phrasing over going from Lg2 to PL - that seems more like a long term thing.

I'd have thought someone like Sam going in and stopping relegations being called a firefighter was more appropriate

Eddie Howe will be a very precarious appointment.
Firstly, he’s not first (or second, third or fourth?) choice?
He doesn’t have a foreign name.
He doesn’t have any European credentials.
He hasn’t worked for over a year?
His Bournemouth team shipped goals by the bucketload.
He’s a dyed-in-the-wool southerner who, like before, may find it very difficult to settle beyond the Watford gap. And we all know that NUFC fans have used “Southernness” as a stick to beat people with.
He’ll find the scrutiny, impatience & criticism he’ll get at Newcastle a million times worse than ever before.
If they go down with him in charge they’ll be very unforgiving if he fails to get them promoted immediately, more so than with say Emery or Benitez.
One positive though: being from the south Howe will have the sympathetic support of all the national media, so if the NUFC fans do kick-off they’ll get a torrid time off the press.
He’s from Amersham. “Do you think youre working class son….…”
If Howe had the "better" interview, that means they interviewed Emery, without his clubs knowledge. Methinks Caulkin has just thrown himself off a high tower
I’m sure I read that one reason UE turned them down was because he thought Villareal had given the mags permission to speak to him. When he found out they hadn’t he then considered the further implications….
Let's hope there's a buy back clause in the event of relegation and MA has to take them back...
Have they heard of relegation…..I don’t mean the ex QPR feller but the money men?

Howe is 1/5 with the bookies.
Not sure how the wife will feel having human rights protesters outside his house from morning till night.
A known bottle job turned down Celtic because he shit scared of public pressure
Clearly he's been used as a stop gap.
Hardly the world class manager the thick twats were sold

So Howe did the better interview but they went with the other candidate.... Said in the same piece that they believe in their recruitment process....

So their process was to ignore the best candidate that interviewed - sounds like a pretty robust process to

You’re thinking of the Venkys at Blackburn.

Aye. Apart from well under two years at Burnley he’s nivver lived north of Amersham ferchrissakes. People from there wear hats n gloves when they gan to Luton Airport to fly away on their summer holidays.
Unfortunately I dragged deceased Hollywood leading man Jimmy Frizzel into a similar post upthread. Apologies to his family. It’s a little known fact that Sean Connery owes his entire career down to JF turning down the Bond role to stick at the football.
