They paid a billion quid to fix the piracy issue to buy the club. Sacking somebody on the cheap is not gonna be a concern even with relegation.
That was to push the takeover through though which was their sole mission to get operation sportswash underway.

Why haven't they waved more cash at Emery if the sky is the limit?

Do you know that? Is that definitely why they did it?

People with vast sums of money are still careful with it. So far they've spent 300million buying the club, a billion (according to you) to enable them to buy it and reportedly 8million to get rid of Bruce.

End result is you are further from safety than you were, and now with no manager...

Relegation (which I doubt will happen) is going to be costly if it happens

So you think they'll be throwing money around? Interesting. Let's wait and see. I think there's a high possibility they'll be in the championship and whilst they are no longer a member the other premier league clubs will vote on a strict change in spending making it almost impossible to reach the top 6 imo
Let's hope there's a buy back clause in the event of relegation and MA has to take them back...

Looks like it will be. They are now all frantically writing stories about Howe being better than Emery anyway.

You must be logged on to see media items

They could reappoint Bruce and they will say he's better.
So Howe did the better interview but they went with the other candidate.... Said in the same piece that they believe in their recruitment process....

So their process was to ignore the best candidate that interviewed - sounds like a pretty robust process to me!

Who would have thought that the unemployed manager would be able to present a more detailed plan than the bloke who's actually managing a Champions League club, isn't a native English speaker and would, by all accounts, have to be persuaded BY Newcastle to take the job, rather than the other way around? I wonder which member of the Newcastle press team ghostwrote George's piece today?

For anyone who read yesterday's piece, Craig Hope is once again the focus of today's Mediawatch: He gets an even harsher time of it this time. Might be the new Neil Custis if he keeps this up

Have a feeling that Howe is going to be one of those managers that only does well at one club, so Bournemouth in his case. Mind, I thought Emery did shite at Arsenal so I doubt he'd have done too much at the Mags. Howe will probably be better for them in the Championship.

The arrogance of these mags on TS. Bring Eddie Howe in for this season, keep them up then bring in a big name.
They were a strange oxymoron before, a mix of delusional arrogance and fragile neediness.

They are even worse now as they have the swagger of being 'the richest club in the world' as they now think they can just buy everything and everyone, that coupled with the self perpetuating myth of the mighty massive Newcastle United and they just think that the world should fall at their feet and they cant seem to understand why this isn't happening.

It's like before the takeover all their frustrations and excuses about why they weren't re-living the 'glory days' or assuming their rightful place at the head of the top table were all Mike Ashleys fault and if anyone tried to tell them any different it was fingers in the ears time and shout you down.........after all what did little old Sunderland know about the machinations of this mighty superclub - after all nothing massages a fragile ego better than putting someone else down to make yourself feel better. I honestly think that a lot of them just thought that waving the cash around would have everyone scampering, well I mean, that's the only thing thats been holding them back all this time while the evil Ashley has been in charge, isnt it? Well thats what they've spent the last 14 years telling themselves anyway.

So we are led to believe that out of work Eddie Howe

I totally agree, if things don't work out how you want, just change reality to suit the narrative required.

The local sycophantic local journalists have shown themselves as useless over this.
