Insulate Britain

I said this before. If this continues people will start taking matters into their own hands.

And if they do, hopefully they’re both charged. The fact barely anyone on this board has condemned the woman in the Range Rover is rather telling. She accelerated into a protestor, that’s incredibly reckless. Totally get the frustration mind but you cannot use your car as a battering ram. I suspect many on here fantasise about running protestors over themselves though, hence the support.

I must admit I'd lose my lid if they made my kids late for school and me late fir work. Would not drive into them but would sorely be tempted to drag them off the road.

she hardly accelerated into her, she nudged her a little. Not saying it's right mind, but if they keep pissing people off its only a matter of time before one of them gets seriously injured.

She drove into a protestor. She used her car to ram someone.

If she’d lost control of the car in that moment she could have seriously injured or killed that woman.

I understand people are frustrated with them. For the avoidance of doubt I’ll say it again, I don’t support their methods at all, but you can’t use your car as a battering ram against peaceful protestors, who are not presenting a danger to you.

Again I appreciate the frustration, I do not support them, they should be dragged off the road by the police. But imagine that’s your mother, daughter, sister, wife, whoever. And that idiot starts “nudging” her, whilst her head is no higher than the bonnet, with a car that weighs two and a bit metric tonnes.

How confident would you feel, in a fit of rage, with your ability to only “nudge” someone sat in front of your car?

I suspect she will face no charges. Fortunately nobody actually did get hurt. I understand why she was so frustrated and part of Me doesn’t blame her but we can’t normalise this surely?

Police should drag them off the roads and handcuff them to the railings and leave them there for twelve hours to promote their cause from the side of the road!
I think that would be a great idea. Add up all the time they have disrupted other people and divide between the protestors and double it.

I cannot disagree with a word of that

i said i wasn’t saying its right so i’m not normalising it. I’m saying if they keep restricting people the way they are (incl ambulances / paramedics etc), then someone is going to hurt them.

What would you do if your parent was critically ill needing urgent hospital attention and the ambulance couldn’t get through. Not only that, but they / the dickhead who seems to be in charge thinks its perfectly fine to do that?

Don’t understand why no one has been in court yet. Need to get one of them found guilty, then anyone who has been held up and missed out on work etc. Can take the fecker to court and sue them

Drag them off the road if you have to, I say, but there’s no need to hurt them.

As inexcusable as the protestors, but that kind of behaviour will go down well with people who aren’t all there.

and someone else immediately takes their place or they just come back again. But you’d be happy with that if your parent was needing emergency care and the ambulance / paramedic was stuck behind this lot?

i’ve no problem with anyone protesting, but at least directly protest against the government / MP’s or others who can change it. At the minute they’re just pissing more and more normal people off every day, and it won’t end well

This is what they said about people potentially dying in ambulances:

“The spokesman for Insulate Britain implicitly stated that deaths caused by ambulances forced to wait in traffic because of one of his protests was like allowing soldiers in World War Two to die in order to keep secret from Nazi Germany that the UK had cracked the code for the Enigma machine, per his interpretation of historical events he had seen in the 2014 film The Imitation Game.

Liam Norton, now infamous for his wild and frequent comparisons of his cause to the Second World War, made the comments on talkRADIO on Tuesday, while calling host Julia Hartley-Brewer a “traitor”.

I'm not saying I'd be happy with that at all. I do not condone the actions of Insulate Britain. I respect what they're trying to achieve but I do not agree with how they're conducting themselves.

I am however saying that I absolutely do not agree with the people suggesting, encouraging or threatening to run them over.

Use the minimum required physical force to clear the road if there are emergency services vehicles being blocked, absolutely, but I draw the line at ramming them with cars. I watch that video, and others, and fear we've lost all decency.

Again, I completely understand the frustration of people. The darker side of my mind sympathises with them. Perhaps if I was angry enough, I'd say the kind of things they're saying or god forbid do the things they're doing, but we have to be better than that.

Why aren't they classed as a terrorist organisation and subject to the same laws.
Because they're not using violence. They're using peaceful protest, which is legal in this country.

Funny how we go from one thread, condeming the Saudi regime for not having decent laws and human rights, yet on another thread, we're happy to throw our human rights away if it stops someone from driving their kids to school on time once in a blue moon.

Don’t understand why no one has been in court yet. Need to get one of them found guilty, then anyone who has been held up and missed out on work etc. Can take the fecker to court and sue them
Well, the recent overturning of convictions against similar protestors, seems to tell you they're not actually doing anything illegal.

incredible really

"Why aren't peaceful (even if highly annoying) protestors treat the same as people who blow themselves up on the tube?"

for the record i’m not suggesting / encouraging or threatening them. But I can see why some people would though, and it will happen imo the more they impact peoples lives
