As a neutral the backlash about human rights just seems a bit off and hypocritical to me. People seem to forget that the Saudi PIF have been pumping cash into Man U and have sizeable stakes in Facebook and Uber.

Do I think half of London, developments in other cities, and chunks of our strategic infrastructure should be owned by the Saudis and other murderous regimes? No. But it is and as long as our country is fine with that, and people are happy to sell weapons to the Saudis etc to use in Yemen etc then I see no justification for making an exception of Newcastle United.

I gather there is a BAE Systems weapons factory just off the A1M at Washington. I assume those on here complaining about the Newcastle takeover are up there protesting against BAE making weapons for the Saudis and other similar countries?

Erm, no. They've been buying shares in publicly traded companies from the existing shareholders. The only shareholders to put money in are the original subscribers and those who buy new shares in a rights issue.

But who would do that? You only wanted Ashley out. Support the team not the regime etc.
Do you think the poster is a good or bad thing?
I’ve no strong feelings either way, I support the right to protest. As I support those who would disagree and turn it over. You’re making the same mistake as most on here do, we don’t think homogenously.

I’ve just sent this.
During your next edition of match of the day or indeed any of your footballing broadcasts would you kindly avoid any reference to the recent takeover of NUFC by the PIF of Saudi Arabia as being in any way shape or form as being advantageous to the north east of England as a region.
I live in the region and regard the takeover by one of the most morally reprehensible regimes on the planet, and their attempt at sportswashing absolutely revolting. The negative reaction this will eventually draw from the rest of the world is deeply damaging for the entire region outside of Newcastle city centre.
Thank you

For the lazy can you include the email address for those who hold similar views?

So you support violence?

I’ve sent me email into editor or motd telling him that on any voxpops shown tonight there must be no reference to their takeover being good for the region
The region includes Sunderland and is not good for Sunderland to be dragged into geordie hypocrisy
If half the people looking at this thread did the same they might, just might start paying attention. And not just match of the day. The BBC as a whole.

So you support vandalism of something trying to raise awareness of a journalist being murdered on the orders of the head of state?
100k plus begging the Saudis to take over, social media campaigns, lobbying MPs etc. can you point out any significant counter protests by groups of your supporters?
