England vs India (fourth test) The Oval

India are a better side, but we have had multiple opportunities to win every single Test and let nearly all of them slip. Very disappointing.

Too much muddled thinking from the top down - selection policy is all over the place, people dropping in and out of Test series, people sat on their arses for weeks on end playing no cricket etc. Even the decision to bowl first at the Oval...not good enough.

Personally watching that don’t think the team went down that win mentality they played for a draw what I watched and were beaten by the better team as they bowlers out skilled our batsman who were mostly out to defensive shots.

It wasn’t the tactics that won lost or drawn that game it was simply they bowlers performing better in the day

We weren’t hung ho at all but the run out and Hameed’s wicket would probably not have happened had we adopted an ‘over my dead body’ attitude imo.

As it was we got seduced by a win that CricViz had at 10%.

Well yeah I guess I can see your point about Hameed’s wicket which I suppose when if you analysis every wicket you can pick up the odd bad shot.

But respectfully disagree with your second point don’t think we were as a team seduced by anything .

In general the whole approach today was defensive and we were looking to draw the game and were beaten by their team and Burmah good spell not the tactics

This. Don't forget FTECB totally de prioritsing first class cricket in favour of their vanity slog and giggle tournament.

Sticking a team in, bowling them out for 190 and then losing by 150 on a flatty is appalling. The batting simply isn’t good enough.

Can complain about venues or pitches as much as we like but scoring 500 runs across two innings on that pitch is very poor. It’s fairly simple; if Root doesn’t score runs, we’re a very moderate side.

bowling bigger issue here
Dont agree with that at all mind.

he’s an average Captain like, in terms of tactics

very very very defensive

Why do you think our players have stagnated?
Not sure they have. We didn’t bat very well last time but we had Cook, Stokes, Woakes, Broad etc all available and more favourable pitches.
Curran and Ali were excellent that series I guess, shame what’s happened to them
