England vs India (fourth test) The Oval

Get 5 days play and make their money. They don’t really care about the result

its a joke like

Only country in the world that produces pitches for the opposition

India literally sacked their groundsman when they were 1-0 down.
Isnt the oval always a batsmans dream or have i made that up?

thats the exact point I making.
Bumrah and Umesh are hitting through the line here

there is zero chance Burns and Hameed are lasting tonight

To be honest if we were at full strength we’d be winning the series comfortably. They’ve took advantage of an attack that looks exhausted, Overton who should be the freshest has barely bowled.

Root did ask for pitches like these (I think) but I agree it’s stupid

It’s the London grounds mate. Absolute graveyards for us

They aren’t. People say this and the results don’t particularly show them to be any worse than other grounds

This is a good Test pitch. We had all the best of the bowling conditions on day one. The cloud cover and some live grass to play with. We then had better batting conditions and didn’t capitalise enough. Can’t attach any blame to the groundsman for producing a pitch that takes the game into day five.

Out of interest, what type of pitch do you think would have played into England’s hands more? A pitch that favours the seamers? Because our batting can’t cope with that either.

Aye i agree with that last bit tbf like. Its all well and good asking for a seaming pitch when our batsmen can cope.

Reality is there bowlers are every bit as good as ours these days so doesnt really favour us anymoren

Remind me how that went again…. I seem to remember us exploiting day one bowling conditions, putting on a proper total and then applying scoreboard pressure. This game could have gone in a similar way had we batted better first innings.

We beat them buy an innings mate, hope that helps.
Talk that Old Trafford’s square is all dusty and worn too. They’ll play two spinners and it’ll turn square.

no surprise there

Makes me laugh people who say England doctor pitches, its the exact opposite, we seem to do everything possible for us not to win.

We’ve won our last three tests at the Oval and prior to this series had only lost one of the previous seven at Lords. This London thing is a bit of a myth.

And just remind me of the circumstances of that Test

Are you saying we’ve produced a pitch that’s too batting friendly here? If so, and Headingly was better suited to us, why didn’t we register a score of 450 plus here to take the game out of India’s reach and at least guarantee ourselves a draw?

the oval doesnt produce pitches that suit English cricket mate, thats not a controversial thing to say.

Look at the wickets India produced, they were only interested in winnings

Thats not the case in England.
