4 day break in that London…

Thinking of doing this next week. 3 kids in tow, 13,12 and 9.
Left it a bit late for cheap train tickets from Newcastle, is it best to drive to Peterborough or Watford and train from there?
Premier inn tower bridge any good? Would be cheaper if we had stopped at 2 kids!

We generally go from Watford and only takes about 25 minutes to Euston

We basically spent the most of our Jet2 refund in London earlier this month

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that we did was a rib boat experience on the Thames

Not cheap at £150 for the three of us for 70 minutes but daughter and Mrs loved it

From Westminster to Tower Bridge there are speed limits then you go fast out to the Thames Barrier and back

Where do you park there mate?

We used Justpark last week and parked in Canada Water in an apartment block car park. Cost us £28 for 4 nights. 5 min walk to tube station. It was perfect.

IF its still open then The Rainforest Cafe is on Shaftsbury avenue

Daughter has found that on her phone, don't think we are getting out of it. Decided what smoothie she wants and everything.

Any suggestions for evening activities. 2 lads and me would rather avoid a musical.
Cheers

If you haven’t already booked you may need to. We couldn’t get in as hadn’t booked in advance.

Going down on Saturday, had to book unsociable hours to get decent train fares . There’s also 5 of us
Sat is very busy for hotels - think there’s a marathon or something going on

Worth mentioning that when going to the museums whilst it’s free you do need to book your ticket in advance and there are a number of exhibits that you also need to be book in advance be it if the exhibit is free or there is a cost. For instance we went to science museum and the wonder lab was sold out of tickets as was the typhoon fighter simulator.

The natural history museum pay to get in exhibit is fantastic beasts and costs c. £80 for a family. Not sure it’s worth paying that personally but depends how much the kids like the movie. It’s £87 for an annual family membership which gets you in free to future exhibitions and you get magazines etc. Might be worth it if you venture down again within the year. Also South Kensington station is currently closed (or at least when we visited) so ended up travelling to Gloucester rd, which is slightly further out. Definitely worth considering going to see stuff next to one another ie science museum/natural history, walkie talkie sky bar/tower of London/tower bridge etc..

also not sure if it’s already been mentioned on here, so apologies if it has, but kids under 10 can ride on the tube for free with a paying adult. You don’t get a ticket for them they just tailgate with you.

Also this was also on at convent garden I think in an old jigsaw store just off the main square (we didn’t go but may be of interest):

Just got back last night from 4 days down there with the kids, this thread was very useful, ta.
We parked at Watford, good call that!
Great time to visit with the kids, my kids lead a bit of a sheltered life up here, the eldest has gone from shitting himself about visiting big cities, to being one of those bores that moans that the Japanese food offer up in the North east is pathetic compared to London!
The tube is such a great service, but why do people not just meassge people, or make a normal phone call, instead of facetiming with speaker phone on?
Harrods toy department wasn't as good as I thought and I turned into a miserable bastard in the m and m shop, but everything else went down well.
Stamford Bridge tour was worth it, though you do feel a bit dirty. It's obviously aimed at Chelsea fans and no mention of anything pre 2000, after I asked if that was the stand that nearly bankrupted them my son asked me to shut up before I could answer the question, "What's everyone's most memorable goal at the bridge?' (Gyan). The safe standing seating they have just put in is good.
