Table service…..

Typical pub pub, bar please.

City centre Saturday pub, bring it to my table.

To be honest I was at York a couple of weeks ago and some of the table service was immense. Place order on their apps and within 5 mins the pints there.

No, I like going to the bar and seeing what they’ve got on tap.
My argument exactly. It’s never been a chore in 30 years
Not that I've been out enough to miss it but I hope it is here to stay in most places. Other than seeing what ales are on, I can't see any benefit of going to the bar. I'm making the assumption that we're talking about using an app rather than trying to collar a member of staff.
The first time I used the app it took 20 mins and I had to go in and pick up the drinks myself in the end.
I’ve avoided it wherever possible since then.
It’s not so much the table service for me, it’s the being turned away due to lack of seats. I want to be able to walk into any pub at any time.

5 mins too long
Those who have ditched it will lose some punters. Clued up pubs who had servers asking if you wanted another drink when you had just less than a half left and continue to do so will reap the benefits
Those that have ditched it? I reckon 99% will have ditched it already.
We’re also assuming people want to sit down. I typically go to town and don’t sit down all night.

Mixed bag. Been to places that have nailed it through either an app or having enough staff to serve tables efficiently.

Also been to pubs where it was bedlam and was waiting half an hour for a pint to arrive.

I miss having conversations at the bar when I'm pissed though.

I quite like it -I go to the bar with my lass and regress to an 8 year old - I just sit there shouting what I want while she sorts everything out.

But she is utterly amazing in every possible way.

As with everything, they should be able to offer both. I'd love to place my order when I'm nearly finished a drink, and within a few minutes the next one is delivered. I'd rather that than have to go and queue at a bar, hoping the bartender remembers when you should be served. The amount of times that others turn up later and get served first pisses me off, then fighting your way out of a packed bar area without spilling your drinks. Fuck that. Order drinks, sit there finishing the last one, new ones arrive. Like I say if you prefer queuing at a bar then you should be able to do that as well

as with everything it depends on the time and place and the situation.

loads of old little proper pubs can tick over nicely, even when rammed, with only 2 or 3 behind the bar. table service would be impossible cos everyone is jammed in, and would require 3 times as many staff.

dont see how it could work on busy match days in the likes of fitsies or the wheatsheaf where its just a solid mass of bodies

Reminds me of a place I drank in in Cologne. Al table service and they just replenished your drinks as needed. Never needed to wave the lad over at all. Cracking organisation.

Nah, I really enjoy being in a busy pub and standing at the bar for 10 minutes instead of sitting with the people I’m there with.

This. Really can’t see the appeal of bar service unless you’re one of those freaks who sits there and chews the ear off anyone who comes within three feet of you.
