Managed 40 miles the day but still rough from the vaccine, so was a slog. Didn't help that it was sopping wet and with a brutal head wind mind. Lost most of my progress so a bit fed up at the mo.

That was a decent effort in the circumstances. The secret is not too push yourself to hard when trying to comeback, good rest is just as important, especially if you've been I'llManaged 40 miles the day but still rough from the vaccine, so was a slog. TartJust a stupid day weather wise...forecasts suggested a bit drizzle that would be gone by early morning.
Lingered all day...just binned usual type ride for turbo spin and watch TDF
At the point where I’m not racing, not seriously training and flogging myself into the ground.Tart

Its the cafe I'm wanting to head up toits fine all the way - i go upto the cafe quite regular on my roadie - that has 26mm panaracer gravelkings and they're hardly big fat knobblies
What was the book?Went out for a good ride for a couple of hours today. Took a book so I could stop and read at intervals and got chatting to an elderly chap who used to teach history and recognised the book I had. Very interesting conversation.
What was the book?
I’d highly recommend all the books in mortimer’s series, his Georgian one is out in paperback later this year.Logon or register to see this image
It's a fun informative book that the author writes in a style to put you in the story of the time period rather than just lay out the facts in a wall of text

You wouldn't worry about the weight of your bike if you're carrying onesuppose it beats carrying a spare tube, tyre lever and pump and a gel or two
Certain dirty bastards on here ( and you were with us I seem to recall) were necking pork pies on the C2C in a dayPlanning, well not planning actually. Just decided,as i have the chance of a lift to Whitehaven tomorrow, to attempt the C2C. I say attempt as I'm not expecting to finish it. Question is, what do you folks take for "proper food" on a long ride? Have energy gels, bars etc. Just wondering what's best to eat?
I've just checked the weather. Should have planned better. Going to be a scorcher.Certain dirty bastards on here ( and you were with us I seem to recall) were necking pork pies on the C2C in a day
Suppose there will be places on the way you can stop for proper food, not Hartside Cafe unfortunately
