England players show zero passion

I'm no expert. But it seems like they are terrified of being criticised. They get the ball, and they don't want to try anything that might go wrong and draw criticism. So they opt for the safe option to get rid of the ball every time. That safe option is inevitably sideways or backwards.

It's boring as hell to watch, but if they all do it I suppose it protects individuals from criticism. It's also not going to win us anything.

Compare tonight's performance by the so called elites of England and Scotland to Hebburn and Consett in the FA Vase. World's apart, and not as you might imagine

Think it was a mistake playing younger lads less experienced like James, who gave nothing attacking wise and went inside everytime taking the easy option.

you'd think England were playing rugby the amount of times the ball went back owa, can't see Southgate changing anything either

To be fair the one thing I wouldn't level at this England team is that. I just think we aren't very good and have a manager who would be incredibly lucky to get a job in the Championship. Did they just think they could turn up and win tonight?
...exactly, no passion on your last sentence. It was like walking football at times from England.

Shaw went down the left and even direct into the penalty area a few times, but wasn't exactly offering a constant outlet on the left given both fullbacks should be the wide outlets.

I thought James absolutely bottled it on the right, just passed sideways every single time. I'd certainly question their instructions, but their instincts should on occasions get the better of them and with James I felt he just froze.
Shaw grew into the game but started very cautiously which given his natural tendancy had to be instruction

Tbh, lack of passion does kinda sum it up to me. The German lads, Swedish, Welsh, Ukrainian, Czechs etc ive seen over the past few days all play as if it’s they’re carrying a country on their back , when it goes wrong for us no-one is fuming / maybe I miss it but it doesn’t seem like our players are bleeding the badge. Maybe I’m wrong

Other than Pickford the lack of fight tonight was embarrassing, they don't play as a team and don't seem to care about representing a nation. Kane as captain is embarrassing, he's offers absolutely nothing as a captain.
We could only dream of having Scotland genuine passion and unity than our faux partiotism!

Probably right and probably reflected in the overall lethargy.

Even at the end Southgate commented on wanting to win, but if not then not losing, which is quite obvious, but if you're actually like most of us you would be too gutted at being 2nd best in most areas to f**king Scotland to be reflecting positively on the draw.
