Don't feel strongly about this and I get the point of the bowling being one dimensional., but ----- Poynter has 2 centuries and 6 fifties and I think one of those centuries was a match winning knock. He is a good wickie too. Can't see the argument for Poytner's inclusion. Eckersley has proven that keeping wicket doesn't adversely affect his batting whilst Poytner and Trevaskis have almost identical batting records. We're never going to develop a spinner unless we give them opportunities if the match situation arises. At the very least he offers economy in the middle overs.
83 run partnership ended.
RUSHY EQUALS DURHAMS FC WICKET RECORD (5-52 today)

5 minutes til lunch, let’s get another one![]()
Durham's wiki page still showing Simon Brown as leading wicket taker.
Trevaskis has played a quarter of the first class games Poynter has.Don't feel strongly about this and I get the point of the bowling being one dimensional., but ----- Poynter has 2 centuries and 6 fifties and I think one of those centuries was a match winning knock. He is a good wickie too.
Trevaskis - not played as much and has 2 fifties, in the bowling stakes he has 7 wickets at 76. He's not exactly a shoo-in.
The slow bowler that excited me most over the last few years was Whitehead, I thought he had something about him - but other opinions were available.
Given how slow they are to announce things that doesn’t surprise me.
Anyway, it’s Tea.
We’re 48-1 with a lead of 256. Got to come out and thrash after Tea.

It was a joke T.Not sure you can blame dccc for updating wiki can you? That's down to the likes of us
As I post it he speaks!I wonder if Marty has nipped over to the SOL for the last 20 mins.
what I do feel strongly about is the need to develop a spinner-it's the one weakness in our development system. Those stats regarding Poytner-2 100s and 6 50s in 70 inns prove he's never going to be a batsman( sorry, batterDon't feel strongly about this and I get the point of the bowling being one dimensional., but ----- Poynter has 2 centuries and 6 fifties and I think one of those centuries was a match winning knock. Sort it out then![]()
That Trevaskis hasn't played many FC games isn't a point in his favour. I get the point about variation in bowling - but it's a valid question to ask is Trevaskis suitable? I'd hope he is, but why hasn't he been picked?Trevaskis has played a quarter of the first class games Poynter has.
Poynter isn't a bowler. The point is we need variation in our bowling, especially with wickets likely to be dry and favour spinners this season.
Derbyshire will be very happy with the rate we've scored at.
As captain, SB is proving a bit slow to read and respond to the match situation.
why hasn't he been picked
I agree. I'd hope he will improve. I don't know why Trevaskis is not being picked, but I expect the coaches have a reason.what I do feel strongly about is the need to develop a spinner-it's the one weakness in our development system. Those stats regarding Poytner-2 100s and 6 50s in 70 inns prove he's never going to be a batsman( sorry, batter). Trevaskis, with a similar average is barely 21 so presumably ,given opportunity, will improve. What does concern me, and very much so,is Poytner persistent selection looks very much like nepotism, can't think of any other reason for it.
