And like last year, when probably my fave ended up being unearthed in the year-end lists (Tallies), even though it was from early on in the year, this year end I’m really liking Sea Wolf, which I unearthed last week. Kind of dark-ish anthemic indie folk, out back in March - doesn’t seem to have been mentioned here as far as I can tell.

Any other recycled old shite - Longpigs (The Sun...), Bob Mould again (Circle of Friends), Suede (first), Pogues (BBC), Surfer Blood (Astro Coast), Laura Stevenson (Sit Resist), British Sea Power (Open Season 15th), Lemonheads (Lovey 30th), Vistas (singles comp), Motörhead (On Parole)

Four Tet is very dull. "This sounds like something you'd hear in a lift" was our lasses verdict - I couldn't disagree!
I really love the Four Tet new album. Some of it is very Eno-esque. Much more ambient. I love Four Tet and, for me, its potentially one of the best of the year. All about opinions.

So it turns out that Ben Kweller buggers off for 8 years, releases 5 singles in 18 months. He then releases an 8 track album which includes all 5 of the aforementioned singles so there’s only 3 new tracks in the album.

My description of Wares was rubbish, what did you think of Stuck?
You should have just used my description of it from July 6! 😆 (you and I had a back and forth - I didn’t realize either, because I’m f***ing useless - my missus just told me I recommended it to her ffs)
Looks like you didn’t have access back then. I like it but had forgotten so thanks for that prod - would have added to my list.

Like Stuck but something about it is a bit generic - like I’ve heard it before. I’ll give it another go tho.

The Guardian's 30 new artists for 2021:

Amaarae's debut came out a couple of months ago, was very good. I imagine she's the sort of artist that will get a lot of acclaim in the media and end up becoming quite big.

Not sure she'd be to the taste of many in here though!

Steve Earle’s tribute to Justin Townes Earl is quite stupendous. Kept the JTE vibe in the songs but definitely put his own spin on it.

2021 should be the year music fans across the world join together and say we've had enough of band names getting worse and worse.

Viagra Boys ffs.

That and "The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse" are both excellent albums. The twos ince were good but not as good. The new album title starts with "The Besnard Lakes Are" so I have high hopes for this album.
I just knew you would have listened to them

anyway, this is a good blog for electronic/ambient stuff

His/her end of year lists are just being published. One category per day
