New Music Releases Thread

Anyone used that daft little program to judge your Spotify listening habits? Bit of fun.

Outraged at my results I have to say.

Couple of records I’ve enjoyed this week, not new but from 2020

Stuck - Change is Bad (post punk)
Wares - Survival (post punk/dream pop crossover is probably the best description I can think of, I’m rubbish at describing music)

Four Tet also released a new album yesterday.

I’m quite the Four Tet fan, didn’t love it

Fair enough. I preferred his earlier post-rock type stuff to his massive rave thing with big light shows that he's got going on now. On the other hand, watching his headline set at Green Man last year from the top of the hill was ace, in part for watching audience movements. You rarely get to do that.

managed to find a spare 30 minutes or so to listen, saw first track was 26 minutes long so has to bow out. Luck forward to being allowed the time to listen properly

I'll give it a shot at some point. Still doing a lot of catch up repeat listens of stuff and that over the quiet period. Yet to give the WH Lung remixes a listen.

wh lung remix record was great.
I’ve been a bit taken with a new 13 hour weatherall playlist on Spotify made up of tracks mentioned in the new tribute book about him to listen to much else.

Was part of the audience movement near the front. Very enjoyable set and love the fact he threw in some of the earlier stuff. Shall be listening once I can throw myself out of the food coma I’m still in.

Well, my views on things...

Four Tet - ho hum. You can't make an album from a 26 minute opening track and filler...
WH Lung remix album - really rather very good.
Alasdair Roberts album I didn't know about - great, see my reviews of all other Alasdair Roberts albums and ignore them, gits!
Snowy Band - aye, it came out in March bit in Australia. Part of the Guardian's best Aussie albums of the year, a list which covers a spectrum of knownness. They say it's folk, I say folk influenced boy/girl indie. Maybe I genreise things too much? Anyway, it's great, a bit Go Betweens and a bit something else... good album, listen to ir.

It looks like we've got a shite couple of months coming up. Which albums are we looking forward to to help get us through it? Shame and Mogwai have albums out in January, so there's a start.
