I think he was involved in bringing Che Adams to Blues when Adams was 18. Some of that wouldn't go amiss. And the salary cap wouldn't be an issue.

Adams wasn't in our acadamy. We signed him from sheff unt for around 2 million and rowett played him straight away pretty much.

Remond, butland, gray, bellingham, jordan mutch, wes harding are probably the most well known who come from acadamy to first team.

That's not the impression down here. And he did get people like Tammy Abraham in on loan. Anyway, if he's got the job, he'll have had to accept the way Speakman wants to go, And that means giving the younger players their chance. I think we'll see the likes of Neil, Hawkes, Feeney and others getting bench time at the very least.

Speakman known for demanding young players are used. Johnson seems known for ignoring young players.
Everything I’ve read on Johnson suggests the opposite. It’s part of the reason I thought he’d got the job because he meet the pre-requisite.

From everything that Speakman says there, I’d be amazed if the new head coach isn’t appointed with a remit of finding opportunities for Academy graduates.

Half of them were Johnson’s (bad) signings rather than Academy graduates and aren’t even that young. Then half again have proven to barely be L1 level.

Put the link on from D3D4 thats says it pissed people off they didn't get used. WMS thought it was because they had no good young players but they listed the ones that got sent out on loan instead. Semanyo being one.

Didn't he buy Eisa when we were linked with him then never played him?

Yep. His recruitment looks like the weakest part of his armoury. Thankfully it sounds like that will be beyond his remit here.

A lot of those on that list are his buys rather than Academy products and they’re not particularly young. Others on there have shown themselves to be no great shakes at L1 level.

Semenyo is the stand out one but Johnson gave him a good few chances in the Championship before sending him out on loan to us. Maybe wasn’t using him right as he’s on fire for them this season.

I Hooe I'm wrong buy this doesn't look good. 14 years at Birmingham! Hugely underwhelmed. Hope he proves me wrong if appointed

Other than Bellingham who else I'd on this convorbelt of talent that's come out of Birmingham over the last decade?
Looks like you know and I think it's obvious what we are getting. Just bring on the kids and, if they are any good, flog them while we can, in the meantime we just roll on in what has become the same old way.

I think he will be ok like. Just saw that tweet about 30 mins ago and thought it didn't really seem to fit with Speakmans ethos. Got a really good feeling about him (Speakman) from what I've been told.

I’ve got a load of reservations about the lad (not that I know a great deal about him and in part it’s due to the reaction from others on here) but I can see the logic behind the appointment having listened to Speakman and that’s light years ahead of what we’ve been used to so I’m feeling pretty positive. Building myself up for a fall no doubt.

Aye, I said a few days ago that Johnson would be an ok appointment but would have preferred Cowley. I got told earlier this week Cowley wouldn't fancy it because he didn't move from Essex for Huddersfield but looks like he still interviewed.

Lad who told me all this knows a family member of Johnson so hoping I'll be able to pester him for info if he gets the job 😂

Wahey, the new board ITK.

i'm actually impressed by someone we've hired. All his noises are pointing towards a takeover. Talking about the 'ownership group'. Good look to the fella.
