Lee Johnson

Bristol City beat us 2-1 at our place last season and Johnson was booed. I don't think their fans rate him one bit. He's one of those odd managers that seems to get touted for jobs despite achieving nothing. I hope he does well with you if he gets the job, because you deserve your fair share after what you've been through.

Strikes me as a Nigel Clough type of appointment that Sheffield United made before they found Chris Wilder though.
Half of our board love Nigel Clough so that’s decent enough.

Nothing would surprise me given that these twats hired Phil Parkinson. If they go with this joker the fans need to take a stand, it would be absolutely ridiculous and show they’ve learnt absolutely nothing.

God I hate the *****.

He's improved teams wherever he's been and that's the most important thing. He wasn't on the radar but I suggested him a bit ago, although I thought he was taking a break from football.
You know exactly why fans will be depressed by this appointment. He has never got in the play offs. He has a poor win record. He was sacked by Bristol City because he was backed financially but still failed to get in the play offs.

My question is do the club know the views of the fans? Do they care that this appointment will be so badly received?

For me it signals the end. As I keep mentioning I have had a season ticket since 1990. I went away to matches the last time we were in the 3rd Division. I have backed the club with 3 season tickets each of the 3 demoralizing seasons in League One. But Johnson's appointment would be the end for me. Assuming we don't go up with him I wont renew. I just cant put eith the mediocrity and failure of this regime. It is actually no fun at all supporting Sunderland. And this appointment wpuld epitomise thr failure of Donald's tenure - our eorst period in 141 years.

Putting all the events of this week to one side:

Does Speakman and Johnson sound like the appointments an ambitious new owner would make?

Or does it seem more like a decision CM and SD would come to?

Very worrying IMO.
They're infinitely smarter appointments than Donald or Methven are capable of making.

It's clear that someone's decided on the direction they want the club to take. Most of that seems to be focusing on and utilising the Academy (I'm delighted by that). Whether either of these two are the best for the roles they've still been appointed with this in mind as their records and attributes are heavily geared towards this approach. A clear structure and strategy, a million miles away from what we've been used to.

I'm not advocating the Johnson choice but I totally understand it. As a result I'm happy to go with it. None of that applied to the Parkinson appointment.
