Durham New Contracts

Speaking to an old friend who is involved in club cricket in the Essex/ East Anglia area apparently as it stands there will be no scheduled second Xl county cricket next season.

Is this the same Cameron Bancroft who earlier this year was so woefully out of form that he was dropped by Western Australia and was set to play Grade Cricket before their season was curtailed?

Perhaps Durham are going to check his form when or if the new Aussie season starts before offering him a contract.
Bancroft 103* for WA overnight to go with 46 and 71 in the first Sheffield Shield game, looks like he's in decent nick at the moment.

Bancroft left out of the Aussie squads for India, Warner not retiring and they've taken an uncapped player as the top order cover.

Ideally he'll have a long spell next season playing all formats. Not sure of Australia tours and training camps etc

Leics signed him on loan at the beginning of August but while it was announced they were signing Scott Steel I've heard nothing about Weighell being offered a permanent deal.
It was explained to me that some Counties are "waiting" to sign players, rather than pay them throughout the winter(not sure how Furlough works in these cases).
They will sign players from January, or, in some cases, April so they have less months to pay wages. The catch is that some other Counties may step in and sign these players ?
Think that this is what is happening to Weighell.
