They aren’t cheap to run.
One of my uncles and a client of mine at work have them (DB7 and a Vantage). The service cost is at least £1k a year and every couple of years you’ll need additional servicing that at a few more £k here and there. If you average it out over 3 years I reckon it would work out at £2k per year in servicing.
The insurance isn’t cheap and they’re also very thirsty cars.
You reckon? For a service?well out with those figures for servicing mind.

That’s what he said isn’t it.Aston Martin Luxury Car Servicing | Aston Martin (UK)
Choosing to have your car serviced at an official Aston Martin luxury car service centre means choosing the expertise of Aston Martin approved technicians.www.astonmartin.com

We’ll ball park £1k a year servicing then other wear and tear on top
True but chuck in other servicing recommendations such as brake fluid change and some pads you’ll not be a kick in the arse off.3 years at £2k pa for servicing is what he said.
Your golf isn’t faster than an Aston MartinIt sounded awesome but my Golf R is faster
The Rapid S has the trick exhaust as standard whereas its an option on the Rapide
Figures very similar, and over 120mph I'd expect to see the Aston charge off, but on a mix of country roads and the nearest dual carriageway the Golf just did him.
Economy was similar too (V12 vs Straight 4, go figure).
No but I used to work with a lad who was a big fan.
Hang on ... no I didn't, he was an Aston Villa fan. Sorry
I drove one, they are lovely but that engine is very old and heavy on maintenance.
I would buy a panamera turbo instead.

Silly billy
Next you’ll be telling us you get more fanny in a golf than an Aston Martin.
James Bond will be wanting a golf
GTD for his company car.

Nope. 26,400 miles; 2011; £45,850 Used 2011 Silver Aston Martin Rapide for sale
still sounds shite.Thats really nice. Didn't realise they had Bang & Olufsen as standard
I’ll wager you drive a vectra with a ‘cherished’ plateThe post asked if anyone had owned an Aston Martin, not what you’d buy instead.
Moron.
Just kidding mate I had a golf R on lease and know how rapid they are. Could keep up with my mates BentleyI say you absolute bounder, put up your dukes and I'll give you a jolly good pasting.
Seriously though, Gosforth to Egremont by-pass and back I won both times. We would have done a third but there was no point and it was dark.
It's all about real world application of the performance and the Golf R will embarrass many cars that cost more than twice the price.

I've got a Jag XF at the minute. Great car but fancy a change.I was going to suggest to the OP save a bit of money and get a decent 5 litre XK Jag. Not that I’ve ever had one, or an Aston.
