The little one is a bit "strange" . Awful temper. Woke up this morning to find him sat in the corner just staring at me. Apparently he'd sat like that for ages. And not the first time

And he has this heightened sense of smell. Says he can smell me /others where I've sat or slept. Ages after too. Either I stink or he's got a hounds nose

From the other side of it my mam and stepdad got together when i was 15 and my brother was 4 and i was a complete and utter bitch for the first yr did everything i could to break them up but almost 20 yrs on i cudnt imagine not having him in my life. Ive had a very on/off relationship with my dad which has been very much off for the last 7yrs and dispite the fact im now 34 my stepdad means the world to me and has been there through some very difficult times. Treats me and my brother just like his own

mutual respect is the key , it just takes a long time for both to earn it.
 
Got mates who appear to make it work but I couldn’t have took another blokes kids on like.

Remember my wife's 15 year old niece and her 2 friends came to stay for the whole summer from Poland to go to English summer school. My wife was so excited. Pizzas, movie nights, trips to bowling, Nintendo wii sessions etc. We picked them up from the airport, showed them their room and never saw them for a month. They barely even bothered to go to their school. In their room almost all the time. Manners were abysmal.
 
No interest in my 50s of cohabiting again .Got a nice house and love my space. Sharing some time with someone important sounds good but for the fun things in life not the nitty gritty.

I met my late wife when her daughters were 10 and 7. The eldest was always a bit distant but respectful. They came to live with us and the eldest fine and married later. " lkids and the eldest is close to me but the youngest is distant. The youngest daughter is very close and has been all the time. Her daughters love me to bits. I would never let them call me granda. I had my own family name. MY wife died 2 years ago and the eldest has not spoken to me since. That is up to her.

My wife and i were together for 40 years.

I agree with this, if things don’t work out long term with my current Doris I wouldn’t be getting seriously involved again.

It was canny hard work finding one that had no kids when I was approaching 30. I massively respect people that do but I couldn’t take on someone else’s kids.

You've missed his point.

He's saying in his 50s he wouldn't want to be with another family, raising kids etc. He has said he'd be up for some fun and frolics with a lass without those strings however.

Too many more interesting pass times . Give me a double bed to yourself any day . Lasses are canny company ,done 20 plus years of it but now I have an ideal set up .
Come and go as I please ,holiday when I like etc and date when I feel like it . Had a few steady lasses but on suitable terms
