Parky's recruitment vision.

I think your reading what you want to hear. I agree that we need to play with a high press and more commitment, but Parkinson’s style is not really that.

Watch how we played at times last season when we weren’t getting our own way. Centre halves launching it diagonal down the channels for the wing backs to run onto. Wyke in the centre to try the flick on’s. He did similar at Boldon with Gary Madine and at Bradford with Hanson. Our identity will be long ball.
I’m reading what he said mate with respect.

Most teams that get promoted don't really spend anything tbh

Could be a lot more competitive in L1 depending on who comes down this season. Huddersfield will still have two parachute payments left, Stoke too will have one left. Gibson always funds Boro and the others have recent experience of this league.
Just because he tried to sign him elsewhere doesn’t mean he wouldn’t replace him here.

However, I’d be f***ing devastated if we go into next season with him as our main forward.

Prepare to be devastated then. I suspect he'll sign another big lump in case Wyke isn't available but I'm not expecting anyone remotely athletic and pacy.

I agree but how has Alf Garnett managed to turn what he said into another of his endless threads about Wyke. He secretly dreams about him.
You can. But I believe you also need to spend some money. But there's decent frees around.. But that 20 goal striker we desperately need will not come free, I'm almost certain of that.
Unless it’s a good loan from a prem side

Although I'm not his biggest fan and was underwhelmed by his appointment I trust parkinson more than anyone who's had anything to do with our recruitment in the last 3 years. Hopefully he's going to be calling the shots and not the likes of cotom the clown.

Does he say anywhere ‘I want to continue to play Charlie Wyke up from next season’? Short answer . No. There is nothing wrong with what he says here, it’s just been manipulated by you. It was obvious last season that he signed Lafferty to replace Wyke but A he wasn’t fit enough - so it was a bit daft to get him in my view B Lafferty got involved in some needle C id ha be had a different type of player who could run the channels personally but he clearly wasn’t backed by our bullshitting board and was haggling for what he could get. Had the season gone on Lafferty would have played. It’s obvious. Do we need better than Wyke -absolutely yes. Will we be signing strikers. Absolutely yes. Will they be good enough ? Maybe not but I’ll whinge about that when I see it not before the event.

Fair enough. "I'll whinge about it when I see it" is normally the opening shot of the easily pleased and gullible brigade. I await your "FFS there's still a month left in the window" and "I'll judge them when they've had time to gel". Crack on being easily pleased and gullible marra.

Incidentally, according to that article, Parkinson didn’t say he wanted height at both ends, if anything he was dismissive of it.

I thought in spells, when it worked, Parkinson’s style was very enjoyable to watch. When it wasn’t working, which was probably more often than not, such as at Bristol, it was as bad as I’ve seen.

I’m guessing he wants to get the players in to have it work more often or not.Whether he can get them is where I have my doubts.
Exactly this. They’ve just twisted the article to moan about their hateful fantasy.
Even the haters said they enjoyed the pressing game last year it was the inability to change a game when not working that became our issue. And I share your concern about the club.

Gnanduillet is on a free....
Lyle Taylor was when we came down too.

I’m not going to moan about something that hasn’t happened yet. I’d say that makes you more sad and weird than me gullible.

He also says he wants athleticism. That plus physicality is what people have been screaming out for on here so it sounds like you'll be on your own. Doesn't sound great to me either....

At every level of football pace is massively important and we've never had it in abundance in my years watching.

Knows how he wants to play he says and needs height and physicality at both ends of the pitch. I appreciate some see this as the way out of this league but I don't think I'll be going over to watch it.

Its 3rd division football, which means 3rd division footballers who are tall physical, can run all day and can play football. Bit like a Gary Owers and a Gordon Armstrong
Too be honest if Jack Ross was allowed to bring in the players he actually wanted last summer, we would have been out of this league now. But Donald was too busy trying to off load the club and thought he didnt need to bother.

Not sure what is wrong at all with what he is saying there mind.
I actually think he is our best chance of getting out of league next season.
He’s had a look at it this season, hopefully knows what he needs etc.
One thing is for certain he knows the league and what type of player is needed to get out of it

He inherited a team in 5th place and had them as low as 11th before "rallying" to finish 8th, delivering some of the worst football its been my misfortune to watch in 55 years along the way.

We couldn't tempt Taylor here, and the other one I doubt we will go in for.

I still believe we need to pay for the striker we need.. Won't happen though.
Oh, I agree we most likely won’t get the 20 goal striker in a free. I was just continuing my more general point that an excellent side can be easily put together at this level without incurring a fee (even more so for a club with our supposed sway and stature at this level), Again, I don’t have any faith in us doing that.

I just think the failings will be more in the hierarchy’s appointments to key positions rather than a lack of finances (which there probably will be too). We spent a fortune on Grigg and could have easily spent nothing on a better suited player for example.

He's correct in what he is saying. I remember watching us against Rotherham where they were bigger, stronger and more athletic. We got away with a 1-1 draw but they were the better side and we really struggled with them physically - they didn't play rubbish footy either.
