Episode 4.

How the fuck did we get to a point where Grigg is our only option?

Hill and Coton shaking their heads, but where's option 2? And 3 and 4 and 5? That's their f***ing job. Not to leave a chairman desperately hoying bids about on deadline day. There should be at least half a dozen options for every single position we need to fill, from ideal world to cheap and cheerful.

Yeah those guys looked clueless to be fair. SD saw what we all saw and even though he overspent for Grigg I don't blame him for that - we literally had no one to score goals and at least Grigg had a track record - what else was SD to do. It's not right that it comes down to the last hours of deadline day and the boss has no options to turn to - those response for scouting had all season up to that point and seemingly produced very little.

The whole world knew we were desperate. Clubs were taking the piss. A piss take party if you will.

So why is Donald left at that point with precisely zero in terms of other options? Give three or four League 2 lads a chance to step up. Brute force goals like Warnock used to.

if the daily mail is right and of course that is open to debate, donald was trying to fleece maja in early january surely a list of adequate replacements should have been drawn up then, thus avoiding the panic on the final day for grigg. I just got the feeling from the series grigg never wanted to be here anyway.

Because he was so convinced that Maja would stay

And if Maja was injured long term, or got knocked over outside the SoL one day? It's not Donald's job to go out and find players.
Zero planning from recruitment. Not a finger lifted. Not surprising given they pulled a face every they were asked to do anything. Charlatans.

I had that feeling about Grigg before the show. Don't think he ever wanted to be here

He was supposed to not spend the money. Absolutely brain dead - and a striker wasn’t even what we needed in truth. A comedy of errors from every single one of that shambolic bunch.

Watched it and tbh it was very difficult for me especially the first two episodes which coincided with some of the last few games I got to see with me old Dad.......I admit I cried through most of it. The rest of it just confirmed how far we have fallen as a club. Its all very sad tbh.

We did have other options in the window but as Hill mentioned to Donald on deadline day in episode 4, they’d exhausted all other options. The January window is a notoriously difficult time to buy players, nobody wants to sell a player who’s doing well midway through the season, unless the player’s contract is up in 6 months (Maja), the player wants away (potentially Maja) or a club offers silly money (Grigg). The £10m quoted for Marquis was a perfect example, Doncaster obviously didn’t want to sell hence them putting a daft figure on his head, if someone was desperate enough to offer it they’d take it but otherwise they don’t want to sell.

Exactly this! "We've asked about Marquis, they want 10m. Our only option left is Grigg, but they want over 1m. I guess that's it, we're left with Wyke. See you in the summer Stewy!".
Episode 5. Still waiting for Methven to do something wrong mind.
He was angry with his overachieving staff. What a villain!

Collectively it should have been sorted. Tbh we needed at least one more striker anyway without Maja going and none of it was sorted. It was the responsibility of all of em to sort it- the recruitment team, Ross and the financial decision makers and there should have been a bunch of people lined up. As i keep saying players out were mainly what they were interested in throughout.
