Further lockdown needed

From what I’ve seen personally social distancing Is being obeyed to the letter of the law.

From what I've seen down here in Cambridge, it's similar. Not sure it's quite 100% and I'm minimising going out so it's very much my view of the streets around me but I'm mostly seeing people exercising alone (or with a child), dog walking or shopping, on their own or with a child/presumed partner.
Feels like there's a lot more traffic on the roads than there was last week. Still much less than normal, but a noticeable difference.

That's one of the things that's been reported. It's difficult to know exactly why as a lot of journeys are necessary.

Yes honestly.

when I’ve been out walking etc people are purposely keeping out the road of one and other, the odd time there is a chance someone is going to cross your path they stop to let you pass first etc to maintain the distance.
Queuing in shops peeps keep 2m ish away from one another.
delivery drivers are dropping gear on the neighbours door steps then walking to the end of the path out the way etc.
Roads are dead.

That’s my take on it anyway some might experience different.

Exactly as the above in Hartlepool, well the posh bit.

Speaking to people I know it’s the middle aged Facebook type who are having a mental breakdown over it.
Know of some who won’t leave the house to exercise,Gan to the shop etc .They are fit and healthy with no health issues apart from being round the twist. They where all round the bend long before all this started mind.

You did nowt wrong stop biting

If he drove to Seaham for fish n chips like he said then he very much did do something wrong.

I sympathise with people in Keith's boat but we all need to follow the guidelines, where do you draw the line?
I haven't saw my kid for nearly a fortnight as he lives with my ex. He cant come over mine for half the week like he normally does.
I've spoke to my elderly parents from the front door step when I've dropped some shopping off for them. Its crap the way things are but that's how it is. Once people start saying "it's only doing......." insert whatever, then the next person follows suit and so on and so on.

It’s critical that people do catch this virus at a slow rate otherwise we will be in lockdown until a vaccine is created and issued to everyone.
The balance is saving lives v the economy, the harsh reality is the economy will always win, it has to return to normal as quick or quicker than our neighbours.
Certainly along SR6 there is people out every day when I go for my walk, but 99% are very respectful of each other.
I don’t see any problems out there now, maybe it’s isolated down here in SR6 ?
It's not just the economy is it, as it's people's sanity and well being also, along with health given lack of movement and even sunshine. If we help protect the old and vulnerable by them self isolating (they really still need to unless they wanna chance it of course). Maybe supplying them with PPE so they can get a bit further than the doorstep and do a bit more in life until a vaccine comes about. With major testing to catch infection and the antibody test to allow those who've had it a bit more freedom will be great. Also people should ideally be looking at using that phone tracking app, if it comes about, to help isolate breakouts then hopefully the majority of the population may be allowed a bit more freedom. Sadly this means that some will still lose their lives but it won't be anywhere near what we're seeing in some countries around the world, including our own.

I also see many who are socially distant but I also see a small minority who aren't and it's either ignorance, selfishness or both.

Allowing 3-4,000 Atletico fans to travel from one of the most affected cities on earth to roam freely in Liverpool on the 11th of March beggars belief.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I live here (Liverpool) and it was a mental decision given Madrid was well on its way to being a hotspot at the time. There was loads in town over those few days so wouldn't surprise me if a few came over without tickets as well.

Edit: Atletico Madrid fans take over Liverpool as they march to Anfield

I think people in the main are playing by the rules and being very very sensible ,especially up in the north east.

I was saying this to my mam and dad on FaceTime. It seems people in the north east and in Sunderland from what I have seen are largely adhering to the rules.

Until mass testing comes into play I don’t think the lockdown rules can be relaxed. I’m also unsure why the testing is so difficult to roll out as Matt Hancock claims with his 3/4 were incorrect comments. It’s almost as if they a) haven’t got a clue on it yet or 2) there are multiple strains

Most of those in these death figures will have contracted the virus when the UK was business as usual (so you're talking around 2-3 weeks ago now).

So expect the rise to continue until maybe next week. If the lockdown is working we will begin start to see figures reduce. If you've been following the guidance the past 2 weeks and are not yet showing any symptoms, then you've already mitigated your chances of contracting it substantially (for the time being).

But absolutely no need to consider any further measures at the moment.

Unless your spouse is giving close personal care to terminally ill patients in a hospice who have been diagnosed as positive and she is then coming home every morning from a night shift and she has next to no PPE.

Three of us living here at the moment and to be honest, we are resigned to it (or hopefully have already had it) as its almost inevitable given our circumstances. My wife will be one of the last people in the health care system they test as well as the hospice system is on the periphery and not funded directly by the NHS. Its mostly charitable funding which is now drying up rapidly due to stuff like the London marathon being cancelled.

I fail to see how she can protect herself from it given her job and lack of PPE and its then highly unlikely the rest of us in the house can successfully isolate from here. I am not Prince Charles and have an estate and a staff.

The softer more reasoned approach seems to be the primary tactic from HM Gov and it's working so far.

On Tuesday an increase in vehicle movement was flagged as 'disappointing', yesterday the levels dropped again significantly. As a nation of people we are being asked to take responsibility, listen and act. So far we are and I would rather that was the approach than start hoying up military road blocks and create unnecessary social tensions. People forget how far we how come as a society in a very short space or time during this crisis, just by being 'asked'.

Let's keep it that way.

To be fair on Tuesday the woman at the briefing (a medical director) showed 2 correct slides and deduced the wrong info both times!

She said there was a rise in traffic on Monday. There was but not compared to the Friday. You can't compare weekday to weekend traffic as loads of people work Monday to Friday.

She then said there was a 3 day rise in something else (cases perhaps but I forget?) There wasn't. Her graph showed a drop then a 2 day rise!

It was embarrassingly bad that she couldn't work things out herself and nobody else had checked before she made an idiot of herself in front of the nation.

After yesterday deaths I hope we get further lockdown measures. Us and the USA are accelerating at a alarming rate. Easter weekend next week is going be a rite shit fest if the weather picks up like predicted. Can you imagine how many people go out good Friday. Scary thought. The government are full of shit.
i`ll be in and out, i`ve hit yet another bank holiday call out
