Strange decision to bowl first but it is Root so who knows what he’s thinking. Hot day, fresh pitch, usually goes up and down later here

agreed, it's not like it's cloudy and seaming around. the pitch looks like it's playing OK so far. The kiwis did the same today at Melbourne but there was at least some cloud there this morning. Hopefully not a long, hard day in the sun for England.
 
Canny start really but think the slack dismissals may be hiding a pretty shite decision to bowl. Take them how they come but it seems another strange call from root.
