Is there anyone in favour of sticking with Parkinson?

Fair do's, that 3 at the back only to sack off after a game was criminal I agree but i tend not get into tactics that much as I think there are far too many variables to make concrete statements.

Boils down to just a difference on ability of our squad which is fair enough.

I don't think our squad is great or has been but I don't think Luton's was anything special last year. And certainly Wycombe's squad is nowt this year. This league is worse this year than last year, which is the real heartbreak. My view is that a better manager would have had us promoted last year. Its purely hypothetical as he wouldn't have come but Allardyce would have got us promoted as would Pulis. Ross did OK but a better manager would have done that little bit better - Ross lost in the last quarter when he began to panic and knee jerk.

I cannot stand Pulis but he is the man to go for now - he's got energy, drive, passion and probably ambition - everything Parkinson lacks.

I agree with all of that, bar Pulis. He doesn't have a great record regarding promotion.
He'd be a million times better than Parkinson, mind.

no one wanted him in the first place so can't see anyone in favour now. he should have been sacked for Saturday's team selection alone

absolutely ludicrous if we allow him to spend what little money we have available in January. i dread to think who he'll buy for his 'system'

We should have stuck with Jack Ross if we wanted stability. At this point just sack this fool and try Kevin Phillips because it can't get any worse.
This guy is dreadful but doesn’t justify keeping Ross he blow it big time from a great position with negative tactics. Were giving a goal in the playoff final but still couldn’t see it out. Seemed a nice man but out of his depth for me.

For me, Ross lost his way and began making mistake after mistake such as:
  • The 442 against Burton exposing the CB and then repeating it against Coventry and even then for the 2nd half against Coventry
  • Playing 3 holding CM's in a Wembley final - effectively putting a side out designed for a 0-0, which it achieved against Pompey in the semi. Methven said the fans were flat - well I was because it was the first time I'd been to Wembley (I've been 7 times for SAFC) and seen a manager not trying to win.
  • Spending the summer and recruiting for a new 3 at the back and then jettisoning this system after one game.
I could add that Grigg scored 20+ goals in the last 4 seasons in League One so Ross failed to get the best out of him. I think Ross failed at the 'business end of the season' as he found the pressure too great and didn't know how to turn it around. When he started blaming the negativity of the fans it really cemented that view.

That Ross is far better than Parkinson is not up for debate. Last season a number of League One managers said that we should have been promoted with the players he had and I agreed.
He's only scored more than 20 goals in League 1 once and in the last 2 and a half seasons he's scored 9 league goals.
Don't blame Ross. He's a washed up has been

I understand where you're coming from but obviously those 2 managers, like you say, wouldn't be anywhere near us.

Both of those however are plucky underdog types of managers relying upon a certain manner of playing. If this is the route we want to go down, then fine, tailor the whole club to promote this manner of running.

Instead we tried to play billy big bollocks and buy the league.

Id prefer we scraped holding on to the notion that a manager is fully responsible for a clubs fortunes and instead tailor them to a specific manner of running the club.

He’s utter tripe and should never have been appointed.

Jack Ross must look at us now and think fuck me, how little must they have thought of me if that’s what they’ve replaced me with?

He’s worse than Grayson.

He scored 20 goals + twice and 19 goals twice in League One - add in cup goals he has scored 20 or more in 4 seasons while playing for league one teams - that is a good record and he's only 28. At this level he can score goals so I would most definitely blame the manager for not getting the best out of him. The key job and possibly only job of a manager is to get the best out of the resources he has at his disposal.

Why would Roy Keane take a League One job?! Get real.
Because it’s a route back to the big time. We aren’t Portsmouth, we are a club with a huge fan base and premier league infrastructure. Yes you would question his sanity if he went to a small dilapidated club such as Pompey but we are a different club altogether

It’s sometimes difficult to gauge fan opinion accurately when you look at twitter and rtg but I’m curious if anyone would stick with PP and if so, why?

Me 100%

Has done it before, has not had time to get players required for his system. Alternatives are too expensive. Quite simple really.
Only the delusional who think he will get it right after the January transfer window!

Prove he won't? You love a sacking - it's almost as important as a hard tackle in Sunderland.

I’m a firm believer that any manager should be afforded at least one transfer window to see if he can make an impact. It isn’t his fault that he was brought in at the wrong time and has had to struggle through with someone else’s squad.

Having said that, his line up on Saturday was enough for me to make my mind up firmly that this fella isn’t going to have any positive impact on the squad even with a handful of his own players brought in. Would love him to turn it around, but can’t see it.
I can see where you're coming from. Saturday was a bit disappointing to say the least. However, he wasn't that far from grinding out a decent result, he rotated the squad and gave a few niggling knocks the chance to get back on all cylinders. Gillingham haven't been playing badly and are arguably the form team as well as setting up to frustrate. I'd give him 'till Christmas to turn things round.

A draw wouldn't have been decent and they had lost there previous 3 league games
