Phil Neville - Steve Bruce is a top manager

Yeah, base an argument that hes a top manager on a couple of games against good sides who arent in top form. The latest of which his side have only drawn while conceding 24 shots. Totally disregard, for example, getting turned over by a struggling villa side last week, or being beaten by Norwich. Absolutely ridiculous argument to cherry pick a couple of matches like that. Its you who needs to give your head a shake.
He must constantly get jobs because he's shit then? His bank manager says you’re talking out of your arse Kermit lad...

No, after that compelling argument i have to agree that despite all of the evidence to the contrary, steve bruce is indeed a 'top' manager. Out of interest, would you agree McClaren is a top manager? Pardew? They have had job after job after all. All you have to do is be employed a few times and you qualify as a top manager. You are talking out of your arse jonny lad.

Every 3rd thread seems to be related to Newcastle.

Let it go.

There are only 2/3 world class managers in england but hes the manager of a PL club again so cant be utter shite shirley?? Mclaren and Pardew are also in the top echelons of management over the past 10 years... whats your point? Peps and klopps are few and far between.

McClaren in the top echelons of management despite only managing 31 games at an English top flight club since 2006?

f***ing hell.

And he’s right. He is.
With hindsight our problems ran a lot deeper (short) but we would have been much better off sticking with Bruce. Even if we had gone down.

Bruce should never have been sacked. Been saying that for years and always got pellets for it. Honestly couldn’t care less because our fans are absolutely clueless. Jack Ross is exactly the same. Hounding Managers out without any idea about what will come next. Absolutely thick as whale spunk

For what it’s worth Simon Grayson would not have been relegated 2 seasons back.

My point being he's been near the top of his field, he wasn't managing teams like the dog and duck on a public park every Saturday, he was managing in top leagues. Only a few hundred people in the world can claim that.

Sensible comment

Probably not. Our fans claim to be best supporters in the world but hound every manager out when a few results don’t go our way it embarrassing. No fucker turns up anymore when the going gets tough. Best fans my arse I cringe at the way they go on on here. Going on about being a premier league team still. Get a grip we need to realise where we are and cut our cloth accordingly. Jack Ross was doing ok and would have got us up eventually. Everything from here on in is a massive cluster fuck and I can’t see us going up any time soon. Absolutely fucked it bowing to the pressure of clueless fans

Regrettably, there is a lot of truth in that. I feel your anger.

There is now a populist chairman who bows to the masses.

I stand corrected on this if I’m wrong but is there anybody currently managing who has taken charge of more premier league football matches than Steve Bruce? I think only Arsenal Wenger had when he was still in employment at Arsenal

Hodgson will likely edge him on that now, quick calculation and I reckon he'll have about 40 more games, Mourinho might well have overtaken him too.

Though I'm not sure what sort of bearing on his quality that shows even if hes in the top three, when more of his seasons have been outside of the PL and theres been 2 relegations, one sacking and jumpong ship before he was sacked in around 7 full seasons.

@Turnip from the Tip

Bruce is waaaaaaaay out in front of anyone else among the current crop for managing PL games.

As of this Saturday evening it’s:

Bruce 405 games
Mourinho 307 games
Hodgson 301 games

Say what you like about him – and plenty do – he’s experienced.

Neville is bound to say crap like that as he is, of course, a very successful manager in his own right. Bruce is a Championship manager and he does have runs when he has more defeats than wins and draws. I don't think he is a top-flight manager at all.
Not a top flight manager despite him managing more games in the top flight than anybody else. Ok, I get your logic. He must just be extremely lucky
