The chore of going to the match

I'm giving it a miss tonight said after last season if the standard of football didn't improve for the coming season .I would be giving certain games a miss and this is one of them .Just can't be bothered to rush in from work and back out again to go and sit in that freezing cold concrete and metal bowl and watch the crap that is being served up on a weekly basis .Seen some crap over the years but this is by far the worst in over 40 years of watching the lads .

For the first time in 25 years of supporting Sunderland I was tempted to stay in and miss the game. Obviously I ended up going but everyone around me was saying the same thing. It’s absolutely horrific going to that shithole of a stadium now to see us huff and puff against lesser opposition. There’s no reason to go the match anymore because we are so bad.

These players are a complete joke and a disgrace to the shirt. Their lack of effort, fitness and professionalism is there for all to see. They don’t play as a team and more worryingly don’t want to play as a team. And the new manager seems incapable of addressing this.
id'd imagine there are many who feel that way. frustration has spawned genuine fatigue and apathy many, a malaise is setting in, there is very little to be enthused about. the 'takeover' which inspired soo much hope has degenerated into yet another false dawn, albeit one that could have been played down by the club far sooner and more vocally. off the pitch matter look even more regressing with the news that boro are getting gigs that we may have been in for not soo long ago,
it feels that the club is shrinking in a few different ways.

You know what mate, Saturday's brand of whatever it was will have put a few off. I said on another thread that it was the worst football I've seen Sunderland play in that first half, in particular and I've seen some utter rubbish in my 35 years of going.
I've got to be at a new job in the morning so sacking it off tonight as sitting in the cold, watching that hold little appeal. Not one taker for my ST either.

It was dire, absolutely woeful. Compounded after the game by him telling us he thought we played well.

I thought we were a play off side with one or two players challenge for automatic. The decline under Parkinson has been staggering. I can’t waste my time watching that rubbish.

I still enjoy going over (event though the last few years the footy is shite) but it's a great opportunity to meet up with family & friends and have a laugh or a moan ;)

Why the fuck would you do something you don't want to do. ?? Don't go no one's gonna think any less of you ffs man

Don't think i'll be going tonight. Didn't go Saturday either and it didnt bother me. Standing in a silent half empty bowl that feel soulless whilst watching us struggle against Buton Albion. No thanks.

Gutted its come to this. Had a season ticket since 02/03 when i was 11 years old and the only reason i have one now is for the points for away matches.

Thinking back to when I first used to go. I was often there at 1pm for the gates to open for a 3pm kick off. I used to go to reserve matches at Roker Park too. How things have changed as I'm still wondering if I'll actually make the effort (and it is at least a mental one) to go this evening.
I used to love a reserve match. Free tickets, nice hot pie and back when the reserves actually meant something and you got to see some great players on the opposition teams who were coming back from injury etc

^ That. Some see it as a badge of honour and feel they need to go (or be called names or something!?! I dunno). If they were watching something on tv which was dire and boring as fuck they would stop and watch something else. If the pub they went to started selling piss warm jango they would go somewhere else. Just about anything else people don't enjoy anymore they don't continue it. Football is a different fish tho, not sure why!?

Never went on Saturday and not going tonight. They had a real chance to change the way the team played, give it a new direction. They appointed Phil Parkinson. Those running the club are utter clowns.
Agree with every word. Still can’t believe we appointed Parkinson tbh.
