Likewise and same opinion. Thought it was a bit laboured.

Phoenix is tremendous though.

Did he kill his therapist in the final scene?
Well he had red stains on his shoes which left nice footprints down the corridor. Was the whole thing in his imagination and he's been there the whole time or was it real? The best scene for me was the midget trying to get out of his flat

Wasn’t what I expected, but thought it was ok.
Can’t say I’d recommend it to people mind.
First time to the odeon Durham, recline seats make it far to easy to have a kip mind.

I must admit when I got home after watching it I started to wonder wether the whole movie was in his imagination after watching that final scene as well

Yeah it's a bit odd and makes you think coz it showed the lass on a date with him and in the comedy club and hospital but she freaked out when he turned up in her flat and had to ask him to leave.

Confused me as well. I think it was just a scene for the credits but made no sense as part of the story.

I mean, on a basic level that one is pretty easy.

Turns out admitting to stalking someone probably won't lead to a relationship.

He’d imagined all the stuff with the lass. Created an attachment to her after they were in the lift together

Yeah I know and that's why it leads you to think that the whole story might have been in his head from the start and he's always been in the hospital. Guess we'll only find out if they make a sequel.

Ah right aye I wasn’t sure but presumed so because of the wider consequences (Thomas Wayne’s death etc). Presume he just ended up locked up in Arkham and we are now waiting for him to be broke out.

No it couldn't because those films already exist
it didn't need to be anything to do with batman it could of just been about a clown with mensal health problems

i really can't understand how people can't grasp this its no the wonder certain people don't like it if they can't understand basic things like this

It already exists, it's called the King of Comedy and was a direct influence on the film, it's why De Niro is in it.

King of Comedy is far better though and not just because of its originality

i think this from the cartoon was also an influence

That's an adaptation of Frank Miller's Dark Knight returns series which came out in I think 86. That series is obsessed with the moral and societal decline of the era that Joker doubles down on. Except in Joker mental health services are portrayed as at least indifferent whereas in Dark Knight returns they're portrayed as an enabler of psychopaths.

I had no idea Christopher Guest and Conan O Brien were in the animation though

It's funny cos I bought the Frank Miller Daredevils when they came out - just as a kid not a collector - and I loved them. I was annoyed he went to DC! But this Joker film dips into the recent Netflix Daredevil imo also but not as good.
Is there a single actor apart from Phoenix who has more than ten lines?
KOC and Taxi Driver (which has similar stalking and was-it-a-dream stuff) are way way better films.
Oh and the Chat show? Reminded me of this

Just seen it, by christ that was dark!!
Really enjoyed it but don't know why 🤔 Phoenix deserves an Oscar though, amazing performance.
