New Music Releases Thread

Really like the moon duo album, not listened to them before. Had this on back to back all week with the occult vol.2 album, really great...going to have a listen to the rest of their stuff this week.
Think I’ll have to get along to the sage to see them in Nov.

Should definitely go mate as they’re great live
Their earlier stuff is more heavy but still with a great groove.
Never heard of them, hasnt gone down well here but what an excellent album

Their early stuff albums such as in the city and night drive were in my opinion much better so give them a go also

Gong Gong Gong released their debut yesterday. They're from Beijing, just a guitar and a bass. Saw them supporting Bodega and thought they were excellent. It's droney and it's groovy and it's a bit weird.

New Thurston Moore album 'Spirit Counsel' which consists of 3 'songs' 63, 55 and 29 mins in length. is a bit of endurance test. I'm just over 30 minutes in, with almost 2 hours to go. Go to see him in Newcastle on Monday 14th. I expect we'll get maybe 2 of the 3 'songs' live!

Nobody in their right mind is sitting through that record

Thanks for this, been listening to this tonight and on one listen it's excellent.

A new single by The Twilight Sad out today. They seem to have gone full on My Bloody Valentine. Coming off the back of a very good album, it's good seeing a group being allowed to develop at their own pace

So the new(ish) stuff I've listened to in the last few days:

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - the album has its own thread. Suffice it to say that it's pretty wonderful, album of the year material.
Chromatics - as others have said, a bit drab. The two covers seem to be the best things on it.
North Mississippi All Stars - very good. Their usual country blues thing, augmented by more female vocals than usual.
DIIV - a pretty good indie guitar album but nothing majorly groundbreaking.
Kelsey Waldon - very country. Reminds me a bit of Margo Price. Good.
Kacy & Clayton - like their previous album, produced by Jeff Tweedy. It's eenjoyable, low key indie folk.
Gong Gong Gong - cheers to @chunkylover53 and @James for the heads up on this. Cracking stuff!
Wilco - very low key. Might need more listens for me to judge it but, early doors, good but not great.
Lightning Dust - a bit like Black Mountain but with female vocals (not surprising as they've splintered off from Black Mountain), excellent psych rock. Were it not for 'Ghosteen' would be my album of the week.
Angel Olsen - she seems to have gone a bit Sharon van Etten and gone down the angsty keyboard driven route. Bit of a misstep, primarily because it's very one paced.
Wives - they remind me of NYC bands of the early to mid 2000s (the post Strokes boom) and also a bit of The Hold Steady. Essentially, good but not groundbreaking indie rock.
JOHN (TIMESTWO) - hardcore, reminiscent of Idles minues the hooks.
Pat Thomas & Kwashibu Area Band - Ghanaian highlife. Really enjoyable!

Special mentions from last week for Otava Yo, Moon Duo, Mick Trouble and Red River Dialect, all excellent! Also, the "The Time For Peace Is Now" is an excellent compilation of rarely heard gospel soul.

Likewise. He's lost any vestiges of country he may have had with this.

Will post about other stuff I've listened to later. The Vagabon album, from what I can tell, is delayed by a week and not sure the Kanye album is properly out yet.

Delayed by almost a month in the end - out next Friday when 27 Sep was the original date. Great album and it's gone reasonably well up to now, but it's given us all one hell of a headache...
