New Music Releases Thread

Yeah bit different. Last time Moon Duo were here at Northumbria uni it wasn’t particularly busy but they were great
Must admit I wasn’t blown away by wooden shjips at sage.

There was a mixed response from the pals I went with. I thoroughly enjoyed them although I’d slightly overindulged so I would have thought someone playing just one chord for 45 minutes great entertainment

This (Sandy) Alex G record feels half finished but when it's good it's very good. Would recommend.

Didn't realise there was a new Virginia Wing record out this year too. Only listened to half but it's a bit more chilled, more spoken word in the style of Jenny Hval.

Not in any way new music but somehow found myself listening to Dancing for Mental Health by Will Powers. It's from 1983, there's songs produced by Nike Rogers and its fuckin brilliant.

That sounds great after a quick flick through
Will listen properly over weekend

Kissing With Confidence was the big hit iirc.

New releases this week from Alessandro Cortini, Beth Hart, DragonForce, Girl Band, Jon Pardi. Kanye West, Kristin Chenoweth, Moon Duo, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (an EP), Opeth, Steel Panther, Sturgill Simpson, Tegan and Sara, Telefon Tel Aviv, Temples, The New Pornographers, Vagabon, Wallis Bird, Wednesday 13, Whiskey Myers, Young MA, Otava Yo, Red River Dialect, Kefaya & Elaha Soroor, Ronin Arkestra and The Monochrome Set.

Really enjoying this one.

I don’t believe there’s a better band in the World at the moment than King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Absolutely phenomenal last night. The best “standard” live show I’ve been to by a mile(Ben Folds & a Piano in July and Ben Kweller alone when he took a break from recording his s/t album just edge it but they were one off special gigs).

This week's new albums come from Alexa Rose, Angel Olsen, Boris, Danny Brown, DIIV, Gatecreeper, Kelsey Waldon, Lightning Dust, Mika, North Mississippi Allstars, Skydigger, that dog, The Menzingers, Wilco, City and Colour, Kacy & Clayton and possibly/probably Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (it's a bit unclear when it's out).

Angel Olsen, Nick Cave, Wilco and DIIV for me lads

Wildhearts EP/mini-album Out tomorrow as well. A mental health themed with vinyl/CD/streaming proceeds going to mental health charities I believe. Ginger did the same with his last solo album.

Interested to hear the new Amy Studt album that's out tomorrow, gone from girly pop with the first album, to being pissed off with life on album two, to this one, an album about trying to kill herself. Makes you wonder about album four.

Not fussed on this new Wilco record. More of the same slight, one paced, mostly forgettable numbers they have been banging out for the last few albums.
