So if you are continuously late then have a word with your employer to change your working hours to suit.
If you carry on being late for these adjusted hours than that is just laziness, ignorance, and lack of organisation.

I suspect you work in very different industries.

If you're late for a specific appointment or your lateness impacts others then it needs addressed.

If you're late for a job with no particular scheme (say a 9-5 office job) then it doesn't make much odds.

I started a job in Cramlington, mid 90's - got there early but it seemed that no-one was expecting me. Few phone calls later and I'm speaking to my new boss who was in Spain on business and who welcomed me to the company and sheepishly admitted that he'd forgotten to tell anyone else I was starting . Two salesmen turned up from a supplier mid-morning to do a presentation to our 12 man external sales team about a new valve control system that they'd designed and launched ... they'd hired a van, drove to Bristol airport, specially crated this valuable piece of kit to protect it during transport, flew to Newcastle, offloaded it into another hire van and drove to our factory in Cramlington, gleefully announcing their arrival. My new boss who was in Spain on business had forgotten to tell anyone he'd arranged this visit, including the 12 man external sales team who instead of being in the factory were ... well, external . These pissed off suppliers did a 2 hour presentation to 2 internal sales people and a new dude who knew as much about valve control units as the receptionist, an accountant and the filing clerk that were also in the room .

Unless you work on a line or have people to deal with, it makes little difference if you arrive at 8 or 8.05. It’s a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of time wasted on the Internet and phones.
It's disrespectful to your managers & your fellow workmates to be constantly late.

People can repeat this as much as they like, and even threaten you with the sack, but if you’re a latey, it’s inevitable that you’re going to be late every now and again.
I told my boss as much. I said I’ll apologise now because it’s not going to ever go away.
We should be treated like disabled people and discrimination should be made illegal.

As someone who's consistently late for everything, I'd say unless there's a specific need in your type of work to be in on time then let it go, as long as they do their hours who cares when they do them
This is what is wrong with modern society. The idea that it is ok to be late for anything. The complete lack of respect and consideration for someone else's time.

There's rarely a good reason to be late for anything imo. I'd rather be somewhere an hour early, than 5 mins late.
Then you’re giving your time away for nowt surely?
Does nobody else here switch off their alarm whilst still asleep then wake up 5 minutes later wondering why the alarm didn’t go off?
I have 3 alarms and sometimes turn them all off without waking up.
